Golden City Chic

by Caitlin Hoare
Images by Emily Rose Photography.
I’ve been dying to share this editorial with you ever since I spotted the gold dress on The Goldsmiths’ Centre‘s Directory listing!

If you are looking to inject a bit of contemporary city chic into your wedding celebrations, you’re going to love today’s editorial! Taking inspiration from the venue’s creative community, expect breath-taking cityscape views, a bespoke gold wedding dress and a lot of disco fun. Perfect for the cool modern bride…

Notes from the Planner

Tichea says…

The Goldsmiths’ Centre is a modern and stylish, city chic venue located in the heart of Clerkenwell. The spaces are design-led and bright and sleek, which fitted perfectly with the theme of the shoot.

The Goldsmiths’ Centre is also a leading charity for the training of goldsmiths, and is home to a creative community of jewellers and silversmiths. They often host inspiring exhibitions showcasing extraordinary creativity and craftsmanship.

The main colour palette for the editorial was heavily inspired by the venue and the rich luminous metals of gold, silver and bronze. We also took inspiration from London in the summer months: bright, edgy and so much fun. To achieve this we blended golds and silvers with soft pastel pinks, a touch of lilac, and yellow, and of course a bit of statement black on the tablescape. This gave the shoot the contemporary edge we were after.

Marie from Marie Chandler Bridal designed a bespoke gold dress for our model which was a main focal point! This shoot was all about being a bride in your own unique way, whatever that looks like. This modern bridal look lent itself so well to the contemporary vibe of the venue.

Sally-Kate from Hair by Duboux created a softened Hollywood wave, keeping the look timeless but current for a city setting. Adding the statement headpiece added a softness whilst maintaining a high impact first look.

For the evening celebrations, Sally-Kate opted for a traditional up-do with a smooth finish. Face-framing details added softness to the otherwise sleek look, maintaining that modern city chic ‘just married’ attitude.

The main focus of this shoot was to showcase the incredible spaces at The Goldsmiths’ Centre. We were careful to pare down the rooms so that couples could see what is possible at this unique venue. But for the reception, we wanted it big & bold!

What could be bolder than a shiny gold dance floor with a matching bar teamed with lots of sparkling disco balls?!

For the tablescape, we kept the look bold with black & gold plates, cutlery and gold-rimmed glassware. The finishing touches were the black & gold stationery designs by Sarah from Sundown Paper, black & white patterned napkins with small disco balls to bring the theme together.

We love a chill-out area at Carmela Weddings & Events so we created a space in the bench cafe. We adorned the comfy sofa with more disco balls and metallic foil fringe streamers for that wow factor.

Gemma from Iris & Co went for these beauties in her floral designs; quicksand roses, bleached ruscus, painted grasses, lisianthus, tulips and clematis.

One of the main focuses of this shoot was to demonstrate that you can create something unique by sourcing items on the high street as well as sourcing bespoke items. It’s all about your vision & how you bring the elements together using your own style.

So couples, if you have seen an image that has inspired you, always share it with your wedding planner, stylist or suppliers, give them a bit of creative freedom and let them bring it to life for you.
