Written in the Stars – Celestial Wedding at Crockwell Farm

Written by Caitlin Hoare
This celestial, boho styled shoot has it all…

A beautiful dusty blue palette with shimmering gold accents, incredible floral installations with blues and greys and an abundance of greens, magnificent cakes, sparkling headpieces and bespoke dusty blue dresses made especially for the occasion – amazing!

Photographer Ellen Sear and team chose Crockwell Farm in Northamptonshire as their shoot location and I have to say, what a perfect fit. Over to Ellen to share all of the dreamy details…

Notes from the Photographer

Ellen says…

Crockwell Farm is dripping with rustic charm. The vaulted barn is stunning, the grounds are even better and with their newly refurbished bar, dining area and marquee, we couldn’t think of a better fit. We wanted to combine celestial themes with a rustic backdrop and Crockwell did just that.

The overall theme was was the lovechild of boho, rustic and celestial styles. We combined all three to create something magical, something new. We wanted to draw the ethereal feel of a celestial style with the wild and unrelenting bohemian vibe, situated perfectly within the rustic haven that is Crockwell Farm.

Celestial styles are often associated with dark and moody colours and we wanted to challenge that by incorporating a dusty pastel blue into the theme. This was incorporated into the dresses, flowers, tablescape and cake. We mixed it with gold accessories and decor, which really made it pop!

We wanted to do something different with the dress and I had the idea to incorporate the dusty blue. I searched high and low for something suitable and stumbled across Jess Turner Designs who offered to design something bespoke for the shoot! She created the most remarkable two-piece gowns which had hints of the blue in both skirts. We incorporated celestial inspired headpieces by Bunny Loved Evie and star-studded veils from Rebecca Anne Designs into both hairstyles. Hair by Holly created two very different looks, one more relaxed with a lovely boho texture and the other was a sleek bun.

The decor included the most beautiful celestial props including a crescent moon backdrop and table plan, statement florals and a tablescape by The Rustic Wedding Company which showed how an intimate dining set up doesn’t have to be any less beautiful. They incorporated the dusty blue in their fabrics and hints of gold throughout their styling.

Our florist was the lovely Kim from The Flower Boutique MK. She designed the most amazing statement florals for us. She used blue hydrangeas throughout to as well as dusty blue pampas stems and other complementing colours to really highlight out concept.

Couples can take this shoot and see how a small intimate weddings doesn’t have to be lacking in style. You can still incorporate a theme for a wedding with as little as 6 guests. It shows how rustic venues can also be styled in a more contemporary boho-luxe way and highlights different ways the celestial theme can be interpreted.
