Cat & Ant’s Informal Kite at The Red Hart Pub Wedding

Written by Emma Hla
We do love a good pub wedding.

Cat & Ant married in an intimate ceremony followed by an informal celebration at this gorgeous pub in Hertfordshire last August. Kite at The Red Hart is a family-owned gastropub in an historic free house  – think cosy dark corners, exposed oak beams, festoons and hops, delicious cocktails and a modern British menu all locally-sourced. We have the venue team chatting through C&A’s celebration style…

Notes from the Venue

Tom says…

Cat and Ant were in the market for a relaxed 50 – 60 person wedding in a neighbourhood gastropub, which was something Kite could easily deliver! They were specifically looking for a venue that could cater for a smaller number of guests without the space feeling too big or empty around them. Luckily the weather was great on the day so they opted to have a mixed-use of Kite’s spaces. Starting with a drinks reception in our garden courtyard, before moving up to our dedicated private function space, The Marshall Room, for bowl food, live music and dancing.

Kite at The Red Hart is a 15th coaching inn, renovated in a modern style to feel like a contemporary gastropub. The wedding couple made the most of our decor and didn’t embellish it much, with some subtle floristry decor and balloons, along with the usual wedding signage.

Kite catered exclusively for this wedding. We provided prosecco, espresso martinis and Aperol Spritz on arrival, with the drinks reception held under our stretch tent in the garden. Here they also enjoyed our luxury grazing table – where we pile the table high with anti-pasti, meat and cheese platters, homemade tarts and quiches, pork pies and more. They then later moved upstairs to the Marshall Room where they had a selection of bowl food including mini Cumberland bangers with creamy black garlic mash and red onion gravy, fried chicken with skinny fries and sriracha slaw and Thai green curry being just a small selection.

The couple chose Gemma at The Wardette Studio to capture their day and their photos burst with action, feeling and fun. You want all those imperfect in-between moments to be captured with style and Wardette does this perfectly. They also had Adam from Hobo Chic provide music and as you can see their party was ace!
