Beverley & Jason’s Hawkstone Hall Wedding

Written by Caitlin Hoare
I’m yet to see a wedding at Hawkstone Hall that I didn’t absolutely LOVE.

The venue certainly won the hearts of J+B, who tied the knot last September in an elegant, classic celebration. I love that, as well as the aesthetics of the venue (important, of course), Beverley was also set on finding the right venue with the right staff. I can’t emphasise enough how important this is. Not only are you entrusting them with one of the biggest and most significant days of your life, but you’re also going to spend a lot of time with them during the run-up to and on the day itself, so you need to make sure you get on! Not forgetting they also set the tone for your guests too. J+B needn’t have worried; Hawkstone Hall delivered the complete package and then some.

Notes from the Bride

Beverley says…

From the moment I drove down the long, private driveway and peered over the hill to see the most beautiful building standing in the distance, it gave me goosebumps, and I just knew it was the perfect venue. Hawkstone Hall is in a league of its own! From the inside spaces and outside gardens to the exclusivity aspect and delicious menu choices.

The staff were really important to us as we wanted a friendly atmosphere. The staff at Hawkstone Hall provided everything we could have ever wished for. It is such a huge decision to choose a wedding team to lead the day and understand your visions, wants, and needs; the team at Hawkstone provided that and more!

My dress was by Martina Liana from Laura May Bridal shop in Cardiff and had off-the-shoulder mesh sleeves with a beautiful, embellished mesh love-heart shape bodice. In terms of jewellery, I had soft pearl earrings. Suits were from Hawkes Bespoke Outfitters in Cardiff. We chose black suits with beige waistcoats to match with beige pocket squares.

Ian Lloyd Events was our florist and supplied all of the décor … and WOW, what a fantastic job he did. As Hawkstone Hall was so beautifully decorated, the building itself inspired me. I wanted to ensure whatever we did enhance the traditional features and didn’t modernise the space too much. For the theme of the décor, we chose three primary colours: gold, white, and forest green, which I feel complimented my favourite space, ‘The Ballroom’. The only pop of colour was my wedding bouquet, which had reds and deep burgundy within.

Ian Lloyd Events dressed the chapel in beautiful, white wisteria trees down the aisle. We chose ornamental, gold-tapered candles in the ballroom that matched the gold crockery. Small blossom bouquets decorated select tables and matched the white wisteria trees – it was truly stunning.

I wanted something simple and classic for our cake, again just using white and green to complement our colour of choice for the day. Our family friend made the cake for us; she is incredible at baking, and it was lovely to have the opportunity to involve a close family friend in our special day.

Tobiah Tayo and his wife Laura are the most lovely couple you could ever wish to meet. They photographed my sister’s wedding a few years ago, and from the moment we met them, we knew they would be the perfect photographers for us! It was like being with friends all day. They put us at ease, listened to our wishes, and, most importantly, took incredible photographs. Their attention to detail is next level – I cannot recommend them enough.

Best Part of the Day

All of it! Every single staff member on our wedding day was excellent; they helped to make our wedding perfect for us, and I will never be able to thank them enough. Jason & I had walked into the Chapel on a few occasions before the wedding, and I had always envisioned seeing him at the top of the altar, with music playing and friends & family around. When the Chapel doors opened on the day I saw Jason, I knew the wait was SO worth it. Such a special moment! For most of our guests, it was the first time they had gone out in a long time due to lockdown, so our wedding was the biggest celebration of life & everyone certainly partied like it was.

From one couple to another…

Do what makes you happy; stop trying to please everyone else.

Don’t try and save on the things necessary to you; there are many different ways to save money during the planning process (don’t do it on the things that matter the most!).

Get the best photographer and videographer you can! They provide memories to last a lifetime. We had Tobiah Tayo as the photographer and Abigail and Luke for the film … they were incredible. We could not recommend it enough.
