Autumn Romance at Hinton St Mary Estate

Written by Caitlin Hoare
Autumnal, ethereal and deeply romantic.

When planning this seasonal styled shoot, Luke & Sammie aka Agrestal Visuals took care to fully embrace the colours, the textures and the dreamy autumnal tones present this late in the season. The result is a beautifully calm and serene editorial, just perfect for this time of year.

We particularly love it when creatives take inspiration from the venue they’re shooting at, in this case, The Tithe Barn, Hinton St Mary in Dorset. A true hidden gem with historic charm, breathtaking grounds and beautiful backdrops in abundance. It’s also flexible with a capital ‘F’ – expect to be handed the keys on a Friday and left to your own devices, to create your dream wedding celebration, just as you’d always envisioned.

Notes from the Photographer

Luke & Sammie say…

Hinton St Mary Estate is a beautiful gem tucked into the countryside of Dorset, that has so much to offer! Some of the stunning features include the landscaped gardens, with rows of trees and amazing driveway which takes on a life of its own with the autumn colours and falling leaves. Perfect to create a beautiful romantic autumn wedding scene. We always set out to work with local venues and suppliers where possible and this shoot was a great opportunity to work with some new vendors and creating something beautiful and a little different!

Our theme was autumn, ethereal and romantic. Creating a beautiful romantic autumn and classic wedding look. With this in mind we wanted to keep the colours natural and earthy tones that complement the changing of leaves as we welcome autumn. We also wanted to keep to a classic colour pallet that won’t go out of trend.

Wanting to capture a simplistic elegant and classic style that still creates some personality. The sleeves of the wedding dress are perfect to bring movement and a little fun! We also added an embroidered ribbon for a little statement piece with personalisation as a hair accessory that gives a great alternative to a veil and still keeping it simple and elegant.

We wanted to keep the shoot simple and classic we didn’t want lots of styling and decor elements, we wanted to use the venues architecture, natural gardens and what the estate has to offer to frame, use as backdrops and be apart of the images.

We had the wonderful florist, Bright Blooms, who created not only an amazing bouquet, but a button hole and a stunning ethereal piece to frame the fireplace. Incorporating lots of foliage and a mix of florals that contrasts perfectly with the stone and the warm autumnal colours.

We hope to inspire those planning an autumnal and romantic wedding with a classic feel, to incorporate the simple but not forgetting adding in your own personality through personal details. To also embrace the colours of the year, the beautiful surroundings that your venue has to offer creating the perfect backdrops for you and your guests!
