Amber & Kieran’s Pynes House Wedding

American English – from Devon to New York and back again.

Be it sandy shores beckoning you away or a return home to be closer to family, planning a wedding from another country might seem intimidating. Luckily Amber and Kieran had emails, Zoom, and a brilliant team on hand who worked tirelessly to pull everything together and ensure their wedding weekend was everything they had dreamt of.

Married in August 2019 at Pynes House in Devon, their wedding was classic, chic and minimal in style – save for the blue Manolos and one of the most beautiful cake tables I’ve ever seen! Keep scrolling for all of the delicious details…

Notes from the Couple

Amber + Kieran say…

We were both born in the UK and now live in New York but we always knew we wanted to get married in Devon, as my Grandmother lived there. As soon as we saw a picture of Pynes House we were sold! We booked the venue without seeing it in person because we just loved the fact that all of our family and friends could stay in the house with us for the whole weekend. As we live in NYC it’s rare that we are able to get everyone together so easily!

I have always had a vision of my wedding dress since I was a little girl. I went to Kleinfled in NYC to find my dress, and ended up trying on A LOT. I finally chose an A-line silhouette with a low neck line, custom made by Anne Barge. The dress is covered in beautiful hand-sewn beads which shimmer in the light. For my shoes I chose a classic blue Manolo Blahnik flat, and my earrings were on loan from my New York jewellers (London Jewelers).

When it came to my hair and make up I wanted to keep it simple and classic. Ellie from The Updo Girl gave me an amazing asymmetric whimsical braid which I finished with a fine crystal leaf head piece.

Kieran wore a custom suit made by Hall Madden in NYC. We chose a double-breasted pattern in a navy blue which he paired with brown shoes and a Ferragamo blue tie.

The bridesmaids wore dresses in a light blue/grey colour to compliment the colour scheme and I chose a loose one shoulder silhouette which created an ethereal vibe. The girls wore silver metallic shoes with simple diamond stud earrings, and the groomsmen wore Ted Baker blue suits with brown shoes.

With the venue being so elaborate and beautifully decorated we wanted to keep our decor clean and minimal so we chose white wild flowers and fresh greenery. The floral arch and stair installation by Ruby & the Wolf really brought our vision to life. We had discussed all of the plans via Zoom as we were in New York and agreed on a selection of white roses and wild flowers with different pieces of greenery. We had grey and rose gold accents running through the stationery details and accessories which contributed to the overall ethereal, whimsical theme.

Our cake was by the brilliant Edible Essence. They really went above and beyond on the details and again we did all of our planning with them via email and Zoom. They created an amazing dessert table with cookies, cake pops, macarons and different sized cakes. We were all truly blown away, she even create a menu for each of the pieces!

For the catering we chose Pickle Shack and the food was just incredible!! Our guests were amazed by the quality and presentation of all of the food – my personal favourite was the midnight fish & chips! On the day Jodie at Pickle Shack was like having a second wedding coordinator as she worked so closely with the team at Pynes House.

Photography was one of the key wedding elements and Rebecca Goddard was the first person we hired after finding her on Instagram. I loved her work and her ability to capture special emotional moments – we will cherish all of our photos forever.

Best part of the day

We really enjoyed the post wedding ceremony/pre-wedding breakfast time. We were whisked away for pictures and it was great to return seeing everyone relaxed and enjoying themselves. It is a rare occasion to bring our family and friends all together because of the fact we live an ocean away so this was extra special.

From one couple to another…

Go with the flow and trust the experts – our wedding coordinator Jo was absolutely fantastic and made it all look so easy.
