A White & Gold Alfresco Italian Style Wedding

Written by Caitlin Hoare
Dreamy & romantic destination wedding vibes in… Somerset!

The creative team managed to bring a slice of Italian luxury to Orchardleigh House & Estate for this gorgeous editorial. Get ready to be whisked across the Med with luscious greens, classic tonal whites, and accents of gold.

Also, this feature has me wondering – why don’t all country house wedding venues have a belvedere? Because I’ll tell you what, they should! Orchardleigh’s is particularly sublime thanks to its elevated position, providing light and ventilation to the space, and the lush wisteria and elegant busts for decor. Is this Frome or Florence? You decide…

Orchardleigh House & Estate is a beautiful venue set in the heart of the Somerset countryside. The stunning open-air belvedere positioned off the ballroom is the perfect location to host an alfresco wedding ceremony and dining experience. The beautiful pale brickwork, columns, and ornate decorative architecture, set against the green leaves of the winding wisteria have a strong Italian vibe which is perfect for that at-home destination-style wedding.

The overall theme of the shoot was to take a simple colour palette of white with accents of gold to create an elegant and luxurious alfresco wedding setting that also had an Italian destination wedding ambiance to it. The classic colour palette of tones of white and subtle accents of gold add warmth to the neutral theme but we wanted to keep the overall mood luxurious, elegant, and timeless.

A stunning ivory, off-the-shoulder Morilee ballgown was chosen together with a beautiful bespoke hand-crafted gold crown which was just stunning. This was complemented by a classic dinner jacket for the groom.

Beautiful gold and ivory invitations were created using gold foil and calligraphy to keep the elegance flowing. We had a white and gold cake with gold leaf and elegant lace detail. Some little extra treats were added to complement the cake (such as cake pops and cookies) and create a luxurious dessert table. For the tablescape white plates were paired with gold cutlery and gold-rimmed glassware which looked beautiful against the simplicity of the crisp white linen.

Zoe from Flourish & Grace specialises in opulent floral installations. She created some amazing ceremony florals and tables arrangements which consisted of signature roses and hydrangeas sat upon tall gold stands. These tall florals kept the luxurious atmosphere and are great for allowing your guests to converse over dinner easily.

Couples can choose to incorporate all aspects or pick and choose which elements they’d like to incorporate. Whether that’s the colour palette, alfresco dining elements, choosing a location with a destination ambiance, replacing chairs for a more luxurious feel, using florals to create opulence, or just having a dessert table in addition to the cake. Alternatively they may decide to go all out and replicate their own Italian-style alfresco white wedding.
