The time has come to introduce the last of the Coco Style Categories…
It was this wedding style that was my chosen one, along with a dash of Modern Vintage.
For Rustic Romance think back to nature, mismatched attire, tweed, lace, freshly picked flowers, toppling buttercream cakes and homemade lemonade…
Sounds pretty darn good doesn’t it.
Let’s skip on through shall we…?
homespun shindig
I think there is something so sweet, so raw, about the Rustic Romance wedding style. Maybe it’s being in the great outdoors, or maybe it’s the beautiful handmade touches. Maybe it’s the gathering of friends and family to create a truly personal day or maybe it’s the overwhelming love and laughter that exudes from these happy country folks.
Either way I love it!
I know that my own wedding day involved all of the above and if you are an aspiring-DIY-Queen such as myself and want to give each aspect of your wedding a hearty dollop of homespun goodness then this is the wedding style for you.
Why not take some inspiration from this little lot…

How about slices of wooden tree stumps and wild florals as centrepieces..? Or maybe a chandelier, or two, hanging from looming branches for some twilight magic..? Why not treat your guests to delicious tables of sweet, sugary naughtiness and how about serving refreshing beverages from dispensers straight into mason jars for a Rustic spin on Cocktail Hour..?
I particularly love the bike filled with bright pink blooms in the above image… I can’t wait to share with you my own version of this!
natural beauty
Another reason for this rustic wedding style being a firm fave is that anything goes for the Bridal fashion… Just think head-over-heels romance!
From pretty lace to pastel-hued chiffon to heavily beaded silks to appliquéd tulle, the world is your oyster…
To complete your chosen dress accessorise with an oversized bouquet of blooms for a nod to nature, wear a beautiful headpiece, a floral crown or something bejewelled, and keep locks soft, framing your face with tousled tendrils…

Whether you decide to go for a simple look or turn your rustic romance up a glam notch, this wedding style is all about your natural beauty shining through…
country squire
For the menfolk this look is equally as versatile… But do think detail.
I particularly love to see tweeds being used for the Rustic Romance Groomsmen. Mismatched tones and weights work well as a group and compliment the overall ‘homespun’ look and feel for the day…

Add quirky touches such as a bow ties, braces or a how about accessorising with a tweed whiskey flask (also a fabulous gift for the boys!).
Patterns add texture, choose from checks to stripes to paisley prints… Include pops of colour for interest, socks and pocket squares are not to be overlooked!
Florals should have a masculine edge like these gorgeous yellow Billy Ball bouts juxtaposed with delicate daisies. Or for a raw edge to your sweet blooms tie with twine for an instant Rustic look.
sugar rush
Is it any coincidence that I’ve just become very hungry…?
Let me run you through the delicious options on offer…
How about getting naked..? All bare sponge and oozing jam. Or maybe a tiered buttercream beauty is more your cup of tea. To jazz it up festoon with oversized florals. Or maybe you’re not a sweet tooth kind of crowd, then how about something a little different such as a cheese wheel cake for your discerning guests? I’m quite taken with the idea of home-made pies…

I know… I want them all too.
throne
There is nothing sweeter than you and your beau making your entrance as husband and wife.
In that moment, I felt quite special.
So to continue the theme of the Bride and Groom being the most important people in the room let’s talk thrones… But not in the Posh and Becks sense ladies and gentleman. No I’m talking about something a little more subtle and altogether more romantic…

How about a wreath of lavender with your initials adorning the back of your chair..? Or a multitude of braided ribbons..? Maybe you fancy the good old-fashioned ‘Mr and Mrs’ indicating that yes, in fact you are the newlyweds. Or maybe you fancy something a little more obvious and deeply intimate… A Sweetheart Table decorated for you, and you alone.
signage
I mentioned it in Coastal Cool and it’s now back with a Rustic twist – yep I do get excited about a bit of signage folks!
I love the classic hand-drawn chalk boards and it’s been an increasingly popular trend this year, but I’m smitten with some of these alternatives…
Just look at this palette given a second chance as a larger-than-life menu…? Or how about a billowing banner with words of sentiment suspended from a tree…? Why not add a touch of glamour by displaying your signs in gilded frames..? Or maybe you fancy hinting at your far-flung travels with tongue-in-cheek directions…

paper love
I couldn’t help myself… I just had to talk about my love for all things paper and this wedding style is an absolute treat!
Think kraft paper, floral motifs, calligraphy scripts, hand-drawn flourishes and twine touches.
