The Setting
With its far-reaching views, beautiful gardens and elegant interiors, Broadfield is one of the most special wedding venues in Herefordshire.
Broadfield is located just outside the small village of Bodenham, to the north of the city of Hereford. At the end of a long drive, Broadfield is a stunning country house with parts dating from the 14th century. Renovated in 2018, this Herefordshire venue combines beautiful historical features such as wood panelling, open fires and stucco ceilings, with luxurious modern comforts, including huge showers, king or super-king beds and beautiful interiors.
The venue combines a beautiful country house with stunning grounds, so whether you want glamorous, intimate, festival, boho, rustic, party or traditional, Broadfield can be your perfect wedding backdrop. Set within a 1000-acre farm, it’s the perfect venue for couples wanting their own rural idyll.
Just 20 minutes north of Hereford, with a mainline train station to Birmingham and London, and 10 minutes to Leominster with direct trains to Manchester and Cardiff, Broadfield is easy to get to. Motorway links are just over half an hour away, and Birmingham airport is an hour and 15 minutes drive. Local accommodation is accessible for guests not staying on-site, and Broadfield’s coach house is reserved for couples and their guests, providing three more bedrooms on-site.
The Vibe
Broadfield is the epitome of a flexible wedding venue. The most important day of your life should be yours, so they try to do as much as possible to suit your plans and ideas. You have exclusive use of the whole of Broadfield and can use it as you wish – choose where you want your ceremony, your drinks, your wedding breakfast, your evening do – and they will help make your day perfect.
Exclusive Use
Couples will have Broadfield exclusively for their wedding day, regardless of the wedding party’s size or size. The house has eight or nine wonderful bedrooms – the Bridal Suite has a lovely dressing room that can be converted into another king-size bedroom if needed. The nearby coach house has three more bedrooms and is exclusively reserved for the couples’ guests. Downstairs are large reception rooms with cosy lounges, a grand dining room, a library/pool room and a large modern kitchen and breakfast room.
Outside, Broadfield delights with its huge gardens and grounds. The house is set in 22 acres, with five given over to gardens, including a hedged rose garden, a kitchen garden, magical woodland, an orchard, vines and two huge south-facing lawns. To the front of the house is the loggia and fold yard, a very cool location for an outdoor ceremony, a ceremony underneath a canopy or tipi, or even for outdoor dining in summer. There are many locations for amazing photos throughout the grounds; the outbuildings, the woods, and the views all provide stunning backdrops.
Your Ceremony and Reception
Inside the house, they specialise in beautiful, intimate ceremonies for up to 60 guests. Their Upper Barn is a bit more rustic, with beams and wooden floors. Their Fold Yard is a rustic space that perfectly suits an open-air wedding or a festival vibe with a pagoda tipi. But where Broadfield really comes into its own is for those couples wanting an outdoor ceremony, with so many unique locations for up to 170 guests. Couples can also choose to marry in a beautifully decorated tipi or marquee.
Their terracotta-tiled Summer House is the perfect spot for small ceremonies of six, ideal for couples wanting an intimate occasion or elopement with just their witnesses present.
The main house is wonderful for receptions of up to 50, with its wood-panelled dining room providing a cosy but grand setting and the adjoining bar perfect for post-dinner celebrations. A tipi or marquee is ideal for large receptions for winter and summer weddings. They provide a fantastic location, whether with open sides and the sun streaming in or with an indoor fire pit, furs and fairy lights.
To extend your special day, your close wedding party can stay at Broadfield for longer than two nights if you wish. The venue can provide delicious food during your stay, or you can self-cater. The choice is yours.
Dedicated Planner
Choosing Broadfield as your wedding venue means you will have a dedicated wedding planner from your first enquiry until after you’ve tied the knot, helping you as much or as little as you need. They are open to you choosing whichever suppliers you would like, although they have fantastic caterers and many other suppliers they recommend. The bar at Broadfield comes as part of your hire. This can be run for you as a cash bar, you can buy your guests’ drinks, or you can take drinks in and pay corkage – whatever works best for you!
They can help you source and choose suppliers for your big day or the days surrounding the main event – you might want pizzas made from their clay oven and a hot tub the night before or a big brunch the day after. Or you might even like a florist to help your bridesmaids make their flower crowns – whatever you need to make your day special, they will do their best to help you.
