It really feels like summer is on the horizon…
I live in Brighton and it’s these precious months that you feel like you are the luckiest person on earth to live in such a City… Spring bulbs are blooming amongst the urban grit, there’s an air of excitement about impending festivals and if the sun decides to pop it’s head out then we have the luxury of the coastline on our doorstep before the summer tourists descend…
Yep, it’s pretty special and I’m a little jealous of all you Spring Brides who’ve chosen this spectacular month to marry.
So with this in mind, let’s turn the excitement to Spring blooms… Yes it’s time for another edition of Floral Highlights with my fave florist Amber Persia!
So what does April have in store for wedding flowers…?
Come and find out folks…
Grace Kelly, the epitome of style, carried a simple bouquet of Lily of the Valley at her wedding, and April is when this most romantic of flowers is in its full glory. Whether you choose to use it on its own, or combine it with other Spring blooms in the style of The Duchess of Cambridge, you are guaranteed a fragrant and timeless wedding bouquet.
If you’re looking for a more relaxed, country style bouquet then another of this month’s highlights is the English Bluebell with its unusual, elusive scent. Their intense blue-violet waxy flowers would fit wonderfully in a hand-tied bouquet with the other April stalwarts of Narcissi, Hyacinths, Muscari and Hellebores – a true celebration of Spring!
PS. Please don’t pick Bluebells from the wild – they are a protected species!
I absolutely love these images by Amber, she’s one talented lady don’t you agree…?
So are you an April Bride picking your Spring blooms…?
Do you prefer the classic Lily of the Valley or something a little more rustic such as the pretty Bluebell…?
Oh and how divine are these Snakes Head FritilIaries…?
You can see more seasonal inspiration in the first Coco Colour Palette – Fresh Spring.
Until next time lovelies…
Lots of love…
