Tiffany & Liam’s Walcot Hall Wedding

You need to keep reading for the confetti shot alone…

Tiffany & Liam found and fell in love with Walcot Hall – stunning and quirky in equal measure, this country house estate wedding venue in Shropshire is something truly unique.

Notes from the Bride

Tiffany says…

We found Walcot Hall online and on the first visit we fell in love! There was so much to explore and so much charm and character! It held (just) the amount of guests we had in mind and meant that most of our friends and family could stay on site with us for one big party.

My sister found Gillion Million on instagram – a pre loved wedding dress shop in Teddington, Surrey which felt more boutique than a lot of the places I’d tried in London. Myself, my mum, my two sisters, my maid of honour and her girlfriend all piled into Gillion’s pocket sized store and after quizzing me on my style, personality and vision, came out with armfuls of options for me to try! I had a folder of photos of dresses I liked and serendipitously she had one of them! It was a Savin London’s button lace back silk dress that went perfectly with my ‘something borrowed’ – my sisters lace with flowers veil. Worn with light ‘something blue’ Kurt Geiger block heels and my mums diamond jewellery.

The bridesmaids were dressed in various shades of light blue and all looked stunning – I gave them the choice of dresses which came from ASOS, & Other Stories and Coast.  I gave them personalized clutch bags on the morning of the wedding stamped with their names and ‘obvi we’re the ladies’ made by the very talented MamieMakes on Etsy.

Our hair and makeup was done by Saskia Borra who instantly put us all at ease and managed to fill hours beautifying us the morning of the wedding while my dad picked up pastries and brought the booze!

Liam and the groomsmen looked completely dapper in Marks & Spencers navy suits with gold pocketwatches and bar cufflinks.

Liam is lyric obsessed and much of our relationship has been based around music so we wanted to feature fun lyrics around the venue. Up the long entrance driveway to Walcot we had double sided boards quoting Queens ‘Are you ready, are you ready for this’ on the way in and Bay City Rollers ‘Bye Bye Baby’ on the way out.  The order of service Jackson 5’s ‘You and I must make a Pact’ and cake topper Outkast’s ‘Forever ever’.

The venue recommended a local supplier Tammy at Wild Bunch. We looked at her instagram feed and were instantly sold – she supplies only what she grows on her estate and creates overflowing beautiful bouquets. Not knowing a great deal about flowers and not great with detail, my brief was very loose and Tammy and her team created the most beautiful bouquets and table displays.

We knew Walcot would be in full bloom in July so knew we could rely on that as a beautiful backdrop. To bring some of that outside in, Tammy filled water bottles with greenery and curated various glass jars of meadowy flowers on all the tables. When these were cleared away for the evening, the ‘And so it begins’ neon sign provided a great backdrop for our incredible band, the The Flyaways.

My sister is from a foodie professional background and recommended Peter Harrison. Based in Suffolk, he works with beautiful seasonal produce, presented simply but beautifully and has a great laid back way of working. We wanted a fresh summertime menu with big sharing bowls for everyone to get stuck into, followed by three tiers of carrot cake and later, sticky meat filled buns and copious wheels of cheese into the evening!

We found Luke, from Saint Photography, online and loved the natural joy he captures in his work. Not a fan of the classic staged wedding albums, his relaxed style was perfect for the day we pictured for ourselves. We booked as part of a videographer package with the equally talented Chris at David Boynton Filmography and after a brilliantly chatty skype call felt thrilled with our choice.

On the day they arrived to a room full of bleary eyed (not morning people) ladies and cracked jokes until the moment they left which was late into the evening.

We were particularly thrilled with Luke’s trademark confetti shot which was orchestrated with ease in the small church garden while the church bells rang behind us!

Best part of the day

So hard to pick one or two! Getting ready with my family and my bridesmaids… arriving at the church to find mum had surprised us and got up early to decorate the pews with flowers… seeing Liam at the end of the aisle… the speeches!

We thought we’d resent having the professional photos taken, just wanting to be with our guests, but it ended up a really lovely time for us to take a breather and appreciate the day so far. One of the sunniest days of the year, we walked through Walcot Hall’s grounds talking about our mornings, the ceremony and who’d said or done what already!

From one bride to another…

A few friends told us to make sure we take some time out just us, which is great advice. Also not to sweat the small stuff… early on I got so hung up on plates, chairs, napkins – but in the grand scheme of things when you have all the best people around you, that’s not what you notice. Enjoy it all!
