A New Season Inspired Shoot at Chiswick House

Written by Emma Hla
Spring is absolutely one of my favourite seasons… this and autumn.

In The Annual, our wedding planning magazine, we talk you through what to expect and consider for each season and this beautiful styled shoot shows just what’s possible during these early fresh days.

One of our authors from the magazine, Julie Michaelsen Photography, guides us through this inspiration piece at iconic London wedding venue Chiswick House. Styled by Vanilla Rose Weddings and with florals by fave All for Love London, it’s a beauty.

Notes from the Photographer

Julie says…

I put this shoot together after feeling inspired by the changing season. I loved the idea of putting together a shoot which celebrated pre-winter/pre-spring – those in between seasons which aren’t always the most popular time to marry. If you’re lucky, you can end up with the most incredible light and warmth of contrast.

Given where I am in my life and career at the moment (a new baby addition to our lives!) I wanted to create something which celebrated the themes of patience, surrender, stillness, and new chapters in life. These concepts are so poignant for me at the moment, but are also key for couples embarking on a new season in their lives.

We chose a sophisticated colour palette of soft whites, blended with the blushest of pinks and hints of natural greenery; our favourite early spring hues.

Our bride wore a truly magical bridal gown by Israeli designer, Inbal Dror; its delicate embroidery and beading paired with the sheer fabric and high leg split worked perfectly with the venue, that gorgeous light, and the exquisite floral designs.

We wanted to curate something special at Chiswick House. It’s the most gorgeous 18th Century Villa with beautiful architecture, and perfectly kept grounds. We combined classic touches with a little contemporary twist to really embrace the beauty of the house. The imposing stone staircase leading from the gardens into the main entrance of the house was the perfect setting for a magnificent statement floral installation.

We designed the tablescape to complement the stunning architecture of the house. A simple, yet elegant design set atop the softest grey linens, with hints of blush and brushed gold from the Cutipol cutlery and candlesticks.

The elegant low stone bowl filled with soft pastels from our florist – All for Love was the perfect centrepiece for the heart of the table setting.
