The Law Society is a stunning Grade II listed neo-Georgian hall and with its beautifully high ceilings and breath-taking architecture, this venue is perfect for a unique London wedding.

The grand Common Room was the location for this magical styled shoot; with an abundance of trees, flowers, sparkle and a sprinkling of opulent tradition, this is fabulous inspiration for a Winter Wedding.

Come quickly, take a look…

Notes from The Law Society

The Venue:

Due to the grandeur of the venue we needed the styling to command attention and match the surroundings – We wanted to do something different and unique that showed creativity and an out of the box option for brides-to-be. Part of the design for the décor was to draw attention to the existing architectural features including the tall ceilings, the beautiful intricate ceiling design, stained glass windows and pillars.

The designs for the decorations were over the top and opulent to represent a magical winter – Imagine lots of candles, crystals and sparkly table features helped to create the overall ambience. Part of the brief was to utilise the main room and the inside features of the venue for the couple portrait shoots. In the UK, couples will usually want to have their wedding portraits outside but sometimes this just isn’t possible due to bad weather and lack of light in these cooler months. But, in America and Australia there is a real trend for couples to go into their Wedding Breakfast room and spend time having their couple portraits, utilising all the decorations and the stunning ambience to produce a collection of images.

The colour palette for the grand room focused on warm ivories, creams and silky greens. These tones were perfect for complimenting the gorgeous marble pillars in the room, and we felt that by adding hints of purple this would compliment the green well and also add more colour and definition to the room. We used a lot of dried flora, pinecones and acorns that were perfect for creating that natural wintery feel that we wanted.

We were very lucky to have Mediterranean Occasions provide all of the dresses and the accessories that were vintage inspired and perfect for fitting in with the overall theme and style of the venue. Marc Wallace was superb when putting together the Groom’s suits which complimented the Bride’s dresses and the décor. Adding in the warm colours from our colour palette within the suit, ties and shirt. Upper Street provided a collection of shoes that added the sparkle and colour needed to elevate the Bride’s overall looks.

When working with Mediterranean Occasions we decided that we needed to add some sparkle to the room to help illuminate the venue and add a touch of warm wintry magic! Vintage styled crystals and brass candelabras helped achieve the luxury and opulence we desired.

Lebloom London were the masters behind the breathtaking floristry that filled the room. When discussing our themes and ideas for the shoot, we coveted a winter wonderland magical look, but with a unique twist. Natural elements were used in the floral displays rather than an abundance of flowers. Pine cones, succulent plants, Spanish moss, a variety of woodland greenery, thistle from Scotland, preserved hydrangeas heather and artichokes were all combined in the floral displays.

Regarding the layout of the tables, we were inspired by the trend in America, by not having all the guest tables round or square but to have 1 or 2 focal tables in the room, followed by round tables . With a focal table in the venue we could be far more creative and we designed a large centre display consisting of branches, handing amaranths and crystal drops

A warm cosy atmosphere was created by using Church candles, tapered candles as well as tea-light candles. Wax candles were used as The Law Society allows open flame, but for those venues who do not then battery candles can be used creating a similar effect.

We hope that Brides will be inspired by our shoot and realise just how much you can transform a room into the perfect place where you will dance the night away on your wedding night! The Law Society lends itself to a couples special day allowing them to be creative and make the venue their own, the shoot demonstrates to couples with a little inspiration how you can transform a room to make it your own, as well as how easy it is to add your personal colours and ideas to your wedding day…
