About
Setting

Woodmancote Place, a historical manor nestled in beautiful parkland, boasts three large lakes, lush green lawns, and a wild deer park. The manor, once owned by Countess Goda in 1066 and Edward Seymour, Henry VIII’s Lord Protector of the Realm, is steeped in history, offering a unique connection to the past.

The current owners lovingly restored this family home, making it a beautiful and exclusive venue for your wedding day. The Regency facade of the manor is adorned with fragrant roses and wisteria, providing the perfect backdrop for your style and vision. The vast grounds offer unparalleled flexibility, with different locations to enjoy throughout your wedding day.

Three stunning lawns offer a range of scenic vistas and can be used for the ceremony, drinks reception or marquee. The Manor House lawn with the backdrop of the manor, the deer park lawn with its picturesque lake views and the elevated croquet lawn nestled within an avenue of trees all offer the perfect backdrop to make lasting memories.

Ceremony

Woodmancote Place offers unrivalled flexibility to use the grounds of the manor as you wish.

With three licensed lawns, you can have your dream outdoor civil ceremony on the Manor House lawn, with the backdrop of the house. The croquet lawn in an elevated and intimate location, nestled within an avenue of trees, or the deer park lawn with its picturesque lake views and the backdrop of the deer park.

Couples looking for a traditional church ceremony can opt for St Peter’s Church, a beautiful Norman church within the manor’s grounds that can seat up to 175 people. Alternatively, a celebrant-led ceremony can be held in any corner of the expansive grounds.

Reception

Woodmancote Place’s in-house wedding planner, Hannah, is on hand to assist couples in curating their dream day. She offers a bespoke planning and management service, including stationery design, sourcing decorative items, wedding favours, speeches and all the little extra special details. With her extensive list of incredible suppliers, couples can rest assured that every detail will be taken care of, from cherry-picked Sussex wine lists to the tiniest details, making their big day an unforgettable experience.

Accommodation

Woodmancote Place can offer on-site accommodation via Glamping tents provided by Brighton Bell Tents.

Sustainability

A family-run business, Woodmancote Place is driven to provide a service that makes its couples feel at home. Mindful of their environment and the importance of nature, they work with local suppliers, keeping carbon footprints down. Sustainability is at the forefront of their mind when planning your event. They work with local florists and have their own cutting garden, where they encourage their couples to select flowers.

They do not allow balloons or unsustainable materials such as floral oasis, so you can rest, knowing your big day isn’t having a big impact on the environment. Woodmancote Place works with suppliers who understand the importance of sustainability in the events industry and want to collaborate as much as possible to make your event as eco-friendly as possible.

Woodmancote Place can design your event stationery in-house and use sustainable, biodegradable materials, such as paper, that contain seeds that can be planted to make wildflowers.

FAQs
Do you allow fireworks, sky lanterns or sparklers?

Due to our location and deer park, we cannot allow fireworks or sky lanterns but are happy for sparklers to be used outside, away from buildings and marquees.

Can we provide our own alcohol?

Yes, we always recommend that our couples source their own alcohol, and we do not charge corkage. We also have our very own Woodmancote wine list which we have cherry-picked from local and extremely delicious suppliers.

Do you provide accommodation?

We do not offer accommodation in the Manor House, but we can organise glamping via Brighton Bell Tents for couples and guests on site. We can also provide a list of hotel and Airbnb recommendations.
