There is a quiet sense of history to the 380-acre estate at West Horsley Place, reached by a long, tree-lined drive. The grounds are a patchwork of arable fields, ley pastures, grassland, and woodland. Closer to the house, you’ll find an ancient orchard, scattered parkland trees, and five acres of formal walled gardens.
Place Farm Barn, a 19th-century building recently opened for weddings and events, is fully licensed for ceremonies. Its vaulted ceiling and polished concrete floor bring a crisp, modern contrast to the manor, while keeping a strong sense of character.
The manor house offers a series of formal reception rooms, each with its own quiet charm. Original features remain, such as flagstone floors, working fireplaces, and wooden shutters. Recent refurbishments have added heating, lighting, and luxurious, award-winning bathrooms.
The Duchess’ former bedroom on the first floor is now a well-appointed changing room, with far-reaching views over the gardens.
Horsley station is a mile away and offers frequent services to and from Waterloo, Vauxhall, Clapham Junction (approximately 45 minutes), and Guildford (approximately 14 minutes). By car, West Horsley Place is located off the A246 between Guildford and Leatherhead. It’s just a ten-minute drive from junction 10 on the A3/M25 interchange.
Well, that was a wedding! Thank you so much for going to such special lengths for us, always making everything so easy and accommodating every minute detail. WHP is of course a natural winner of a venue in every respect, but it’s always the people who make it work and make the real difference, which was noticed by all those there on the day.
We all had an amazing day on Saturday and everybody said it was the best wedding they had ever been too! They had already been wowed by the church, weather and views but seeing West Horsley place surpassed everyone’s expectations. It was a magnificent setting for the reception and the intimacy of the seating created a great energy. Thank you for ensuring that all went smoothly on the day.
A big thank you for helping our wedding to be such a huge success. We had an absolutely fabulous time and so many of our guests remarked on how fantastic West Horsley Place looked. They also enjoyed exploring around the gardens. Thank you for all the small touches, the signs, a place to put cards and presents et, the list goes on. We really appreciate it and it was such a truly wonderful day.
The backdrop of WHP in the photos I’ve seen on peoples phones already look amazing so can’t wait to see what our photographer has in store. We were so lucky that the rain cleared and we were able to make use of the gardens as well as the house and Barn. I absolutely love WHP, it has such a comfortable, relaxed yet ‘genteel’ feel perfect for our wedding and you mirror the management of it in exactly the same way.
I’m sure everyone says this but we really did have the best day and a huge part of that was thanks to you and the venue. The day went far better than we could have ever hoped, you were the dream to work with, both leading up to the day and throughout the day itself. Thank you so much.
First off, thank you so much for everything this weekend. It was an absolute dream and you both helped make that happen. Honestly, it was such a magical day. We had a fabulous wedding at West Horsley Place. From the stunning location to the dedicated team to the delicious food we couldn’t have asked for a more memorable day for our us and our guests.
A unique feature of our venue is the Manor House, which can accommodate 100 guests for a ceremony, wedding reception, wedding breakfast and dancing. This beautiful building is not available merely as a backdrop but can be used for the entire day's celebrations and continue into the night on the dance floor.
The barn can seat up to 150 for a ceremony and wedding breakfast.
As an additional feature, especially for larger guest numbers, you can combine the manor house and the barn.
Yes, the manor house and the barn are licensed to hold civil marriages and partnerships. Depending on your numbers, the manor house can offer a choice of two rooms: the smaller but beautiful Morning Room overlooking Parkland or the majestic stone hall, where Henry VIII once enjoyed a 35-course banquet!
The larger space in Place Farm Barn is perfect for higher numbers and can seat up to 150 guests, with views over the secluded courtyard.
No, we don't, and some of the rooms in the manor house are perfect for more intimate weddings and celebrations.
