Boconnoc Estate

In the most perfectly enchanting way, it’s not immediately clear what Boconnoc is: a functioning estate, a living parish and church, a transportation into some of Britain’s most vivid history, a set of buildings which brim with stories of the most humble and most revered, stunningly kept gardens and wild grounds, a cluster of cottages for relaxation and rest, a delight of cleverly considered interiors flowing with luxury, all set in amongst a soundscape of tranquility that is quite simply hard to find anywhere else. We have now visited three times, in three different ways. The first time we visited for the day, touring the grounds with our mouths wide open. The second time we stayed in a cottage for a week, embalmed in luxury, hosted with clotted cream teas, dramatic coastal walks and deep relaxation. The third time we brought 100 friends and family, staying for a long weekend. We got married in the church, we fine dined and danced in summer sunshine, we watched fireworks over the hills, and drank until merry. We BBQ’d in the stableyard, we treasure-hunted through the grounds, played cricket on the lawns, we walked along the beaches and we played games late into the night. Leaving was desperately tough for everyone. In its team, especially the Fortescue family, Sima, Grace and Louise, you will find people who lovingly share with you what they are privileged to enjoy on a daily basis, and for whom your experience matters deeply. My wife and I eventually hit upon what Boconnoc is. It is precisely what you want it to be. An opportunity to create your own stories, whatever they might be, in a setting that warmly returns the love and care that you will inevitably have for it. We’ll return again and again.

A perfect day. Literally perfect, we used Boconnoc for our wedding this year in July and we couldn’t recommend it enough. Every single part of the experience was what dreams are made of, the house and grounds are absolutely stunning and kept so immaculately. Every member of the team that we had looking after us couldn’t have been any more lovely.

As a Gay couple, we felt so comfortable and supported throughout. Catherine and Louise were amazing, they were so so helpful, so accommodating, and brilliant with communication. We’ll forever be grateful for all of their input in making our wedding as perfect as we imagined it to be. We stayed in the house for a few days before our wedding with just our close family. We then had exclusive use of the house and cottages for the night before and evening of our wedding.

We had so many compliments from guests about how stunning their rooms and cottages. We found being able to have so many of our friends and family stay at the venue worked out really well. We had the most beautiful time and wish we could live it all over again. We can’t thank you enough.

What a day we had at Boconnoc for the wedding of my daughter. The attention to detail from all the staff, was second to none, our every wish catered for, cream tea on arrival on the Friday and superb breakfasts for our house guests.

I got married at Boconnoc just over 4 weeks ago and I honestly could not have asked for a more wonderful venue. We had the whole event within the Stable Block and hired all the rooms within the house and the 3 cottages. This meant we could have the best of both worlds in the sense we had the luxurious accommodation but the rustic and relaxed feel we wanted for our wedding. The estate is breathtaking and has many beautiful walks. The house has been stylishly updated and all the bedrooms are luxurious especially the Kings Bedroom. The 3 cottages are also beautiful, my personal favourite being The Dairy Cottage which we are already talking about having a holiday in. The Stable Block consists of several rooms, a kitchen and a stunning courtyard area. It was perfect for hosting the wedding of our dreams. On top of all of this, the staff at Boconnoc were extremely helpful and tolerant of my endless emails full of questions, especially in the week before the wedding. Once we were on site there was always a member of staff on hand to help with any queries and offering to do things. I never believed I could be so relaxed on my wedding day but Boconnoc with its breathtaking surroundings and wonderful staff made that possible. My husband and I cannot thank them enough for making our magical day happen.

Wow! Where do we even start when it comes to Boconnoc?

So we got engaged in Feb 2023 – and after being let down by our first venue, we ended up moving our entire, already planned, wedding over to Boconnoc just on the off chance that they had our date still free. Someone was looking over us that day as they did, and it was quite possible the best decision we will ever make. We met Sima, and our lives changed forever – for the lady that doesn’t really do weddings, she absolutely nailed it for us alongside Catherine, who joined Boconnoc whilst we were on our journey. They helped us orchestrate what can only be described as the perfect wedding for our family and friends and of course us. I think we have set the bar high for those to follow.

Through weekly meetings i just knew that we were in safe hands and the expertise they came with was worth every penny. Nothing was too much effort and the attention to detail was second to none. The whole of the Boconnoc team pulled out the stops for our perfect day from the housekeeping team, to the kitchen and bar staff, the table and chair carriers and of course Sima, Catherine and Colin who i am sure worked for the entire weekend.

We hired the entire estate and my word we made use of it – the endless fields for our marquee and North vs South rounders, the stable block for the evening before using silent disco headphones and dancing in the Cornish mizzle, the main house to party hard in, sleep and enjoy the hot breakfasts provided to us everyday and the Stewardry and head grooms house for people to stay in.

We are already planning to come back to our special place ensuring our bubble never burst and thanks to Boconnoc i don’t think it ever will. We truly felt like we were in Bridgerton and it was ours for the weekend – it honestly felt like that. Our memories of our day will last our lifetime and we can never thank you all enough for everything you did.

We want to thank you for helping us to make our wedding day more special than we could ever have imagined. The amount of help and support we had from the Boconnoc team was incredible. They could not have done anymore for us. We look forward to seeing you all again and staying at Boconnoc which will now hold a special place in our hearts.

We just wanted to thank you so, so much for the most perfect couple of days for our wedding in April. The venue is so magical, but words cannot describe how utterly amazing the team were – in particular, Mia & Elliot. From the moment we arrived, we felt immediately at ease – we genuinely couldn’t fault a thing.

We had the enormous pleasure of staying for two nights in Groomsman on the occasion of the wedding of Catherine and Dominic.  The quality of our stay was second to none and the very ample breakfast and afternoon tea hampers were delicious and of a very high standard.  We also wanted to say how very impressed we were too with the catering team responsible for delivering a very high standard wedding breakfast.  The predominantly young table staff worked tremendously hard and were very professional.  There was nothing we could fault about our stay and are very happy to recommend you highly. 

When looking for a venue, we wanted it to be in a location that really felt special. When we came across Boconnoc we knew it was perfect. We loved the stable yard vibe, but also fell in love with the modern grandeur of the house itself. It felt like this secret magical part of the world that we had discovered and were excited to bring all our friends and family there.

We had the most fantastic time, and loved the fact we had the Estate to ourselves for the whole weekend.

My Daughter, Hannah, married Josh at Boconnoc the weekend of the 17th June. It was a truly brilliant weekend and the staff at Boconnoc helped to make it a very special time for us. In particular, we felt Louise went above and beyond and was there to help us with all sorts of issues. She was so friendly and professional and helped reduce last minute stress levels sorting out things, and I therefore wanted to pass on our appreciation for her.

We got married at this venue in August and couldn’t have wished for a more perfect day! I fell in love with Boconnoc from the moment I stepped foot on the grounds and as a historian, I was attracted by the site’s abundant history, unique character, and stunning architecture. The perfect blend of old and new, Boconnoc truly is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. It also helps that it is located in one of my favourite parts of the U.K. – Cornwall. In fact, when my husband (who is from America) visited the venue for the first time, he was actually lost for words! From the grounds, to the house, to the church, it is simply breathtaking. When we arrived the day before the wedding, we were blown away by the kindness and attention to detail demonstrated by the Boconnoc staff. Both Grace and Louise were absolutely fantastic – they made us feel so welcome that it almost felt as if Boconnoc was our own home for the duration of our stay! Additionally, nothing was ever too much trouble for them, and they helped things run so smoothly. The rooms where our wedding guests stayed were beautifully done, and everyone looked forward to coming down for breakfast each morning. Not only was the food fantastic, but the staff made such an effort with small details and decorations. On the day after the wedding, we were delighted to see the breakfast table so beautifully decorated with our wedding flowers. It was a lovely touch. Thank you so much Boconnoc, we can’t wait to visit again in the near future!

Quite frankly the best weekend of our lives at Boconnoc House. We hired the whole venue for our wedding weekend in August, and it was pure magic the whole way through. We have never experienced such fantastic service and accommodating staff – friendly, efficient and warm. Breakfast to die for… we won’t be forgetting those delicious sausages! We won’t write much more as we want to send a personal thank you to the team with every moment that was special to us, but if you’re thinking about booking Boconnoc, do it!

What a wonderful weekend! Wow! We loved Boconnoc the moment we visited it and had very high expectations for the weekend, but these were completely surpassed. Thanks so much to Catherine, Louise, Sima and the entire Boconnoc team. From start to finish, they made everything so easy. Catherine was on top of everything throughout the planning process, which made it a breeze, and we received such great vendor recommendations (who we ultimately booked) from the Boconnoc team. From the moment we and our guests arrived on Friday afternoon until we left Sunday, we were so well taken care of by the team, and they truly made us feel at home. We truly couldn’t have asked for anything more. Boconnoc is such a special place, and if you are considering it, it’s definitely worth a visit.
