From the moment I met Alex, and stepped through Somerley, I knew it was a venue that offered something unique and extra special. Having visited venues up and down the Country, and throughout Europe, I can honestly say that Somerley captures the heart in such a special way. It offers a luxurious surrounding, with a wonderfully inviting and homely feel. It’s charm is revealed through every room you walk through, and every way you look outside. What’s more, the team at Somerley are unparalleled. Their warmth, positivity and can-do attitude shines through. We felt welcomed with open arms, and can’t thank Alex and the team enough for everything. Working at Somerley and with Alex has been such a highlight for us, something we will be forever grateful for. Thank you.
Somerley was the perfect venue for our spring wedding. We wanted a private venue with exclusive use that had both indoor and outdoor space as we assumed April weather could be unpredictable. Somerley has both in abundance. We loved that so many rooms could be hired, with more than enough space for our ceremony, drinks reception, dining, and evening reception with dance floor, bar, photo booth, plus spaces to sit and relax. We appreciated that Somerley has a civil ceremony licence for a choice of different rooms and outdoor spaces. We chose to have our ceremony in the beautifully light and airy Drawing Room, which had all the space we needed, including room for a string quartet. Our Wedding Breakfast was held in the magnificent Picture Gallery: words can barely do it justice and it is safe to say our guests were impressively wowed! The space is large enough to set up dining tables in a variety of arrangements to suit whatever your needs; we chose ten round tables that were easily accommodated for the room to still feel spacious, yet intimate. We were pleased Somerley has a number of charming bedrooms, traditionally styled in keeping with the grandeur of the House, and there was sufficient number for our whole bridal party to stay, which was very welcome at the end of the day. We were also all able to get ready in the morning at Somerley so had no travel to contend with; it was a fantastic bonus to be able to have everything in the same place. Somerley’s wedding co-ordinator, Alex, was incredibly helpful throughout our year of wedding planning. Very experienced and highly knowledgeable about the House, the preferred suppliers, and event management in general, Alex was always able to answer our questions, gave helpful advice and suggested excellent solutions when necessary. We were pleased to be able to arrange as many planning visits as we needed, and felt very welcomed and comfortable at Somerley. Alex was also indispensible on our wedding day. We noticed multiple thoughtful little touches and I have no doubt that there were a hundred other activities going on behind the scenes, ensuring that our special day was hassle-free and running smoothly. Additional thanks must go to the rest of the Somerley team: the car parking attendant, the housekeeping staff for preparing the rooms and the delicious Continental breakfast the morning after the wedding, and Donna, in charge of security on the door. Overall, Somerley is an absolutely stunning venue, and we can’t imagine how we could have had a more perfect wedding, celebrating at this incredible House with such beautiful grounds. Nothing during our planning or on the day was too much trouble for the wonderful and professional staff, and every aspect of the planning and throughout our special day went smoothly due to Alex and the Somerley team. Thank you.
We wanted to thank you all so much for all of your hard work in preparing for our wedding weekend at Somerley House. We appreciated getting ready to host the wedding with the challenging weather the week before and the morning of the wedding was not easy, but the House and Gardens looked absolutely wonderful! The flowers in the Garden were stunning and the House was immaculate. Our families loved their stay over the weekend and all of the guests were very impressed. We cannot think of a more wonderful place to celebrate our marriage and are so grateful to each and everyone of you for the role you played in making it the most perfect weekend of our lives.
Words can’t express how thankful and lucky we were to have Somerley House as our dream wedding venue. I smile every time I think about it. Thank you again for everything and for being so wonderful Alex!
We’ve always lived locally to the Somerley Estate and although we’d been to a number of events within its grounds, the house itself had become a place of mystery to us. As soon as we became engaged, it was top of our list of venues to visit. That very first impression sealed the deal for us and sadly for all other venues, nothing else compared! We both headed home from our visit, full of excitement and love, feeling honoured to have even been able to have a private tour just to see it. We made the very best decision to book Somerley as our wedding venue, as it offers so much history, opulence and grandeur; as well as feeling utterly homely, warm and welcoming. There is no end to the space that the house offers, from the magnificent Picture Gallery, the beautiful gardens and multiple rooms offering great areas for dancing, enjoying a drink at the bar or sitting quietly to catch up with family. Our guests immediately fell in love with the romance and charm of Somerley House, just as we had. We also enjoyed staying overnight which made it feel like our very own home for the whole day into the night. If it could even get better, a diamond in Somerley’s crown is the wonderful Alex. Alex has been like a friend to us in the run up to our wedding, with her calm and friendly manner, offered alongside professional advice and guidance. Alex made sure that we had no concerns leading up to the wedding day because we knew she had it all covered with her fantastic eye for detail. Thank you so much Alex, for all that you helped us with. You were always contactable and offered helpful and practical advice – even if it was Sarah’s umpteenth email of the day. We also felt incredibly reassured by Somerley’s approved suppliers list and our chosen Caterer, Ginger, along with the bar supplier, NJac, ensured that all aspects of the day ran according to plan. Everything went so smoothly and all of the staff on hand were helpful, friendly and faultlessly professional. We feel like we floated around in a dream-like state for most of the day and everyone will tell you how quickly the day will pass, but it is honestly even faster than that. It’s such an intensely pressured day, but having our wedding at Somerley House with Alex there with us made it all the easier. We feel incredibly lucky to have celebrated our wedding at Somerley House.
