Now, this cherished family home (and one of the UK’s most charming multi-day wedding venues) is unveiling a beautiful new addition: a reimagined Conservatory. Gloriously light-filled, cleverly connected to the main house, and opening out onto Pennard’s south-facing terrace, it’s a space designed for ceremonies, drinks receptions, and private gatherings alike – all with a very beautiful view.
Yes, the Coach House remains the perfect dining setting and party venue. Yes, the garden pavilion still makes an unforgettable backdrop for a ceremony. But this elegant new Conservatory feels like the final piece of the puzzle, completing a venue that already offered so much.
The original Victorian conservatory at Pennard was built in the early 1800s; it was once used to nurture flowers and fruit trees and, at one point, even butterflies. Over the years, it had started to show its age. But rather than simply restore what was there, the family saw an opportunity to create something new: a purpose-built space that could honour the building’s past while offering something timeless and versatile for the future.
After careful planning, including consultation with heritage experts and listed building authorities, the result is a structure that’s both refined and subtly contemporary. Elegant chandeliers and underfloor heating bring comfort and character, while the soft-toned interiors provide a neutral canvas for couples to personalise. It’s generously sized (ideal for up to 120 guests) but never feels too big, and the flow from ceremony to drinks reception is seamless, whatever the weather.
“We wanted to create a space that would work for our couples and their guests – whether that meant sheltering from the rain, enjoying a shady moment during a heatwave, or simply soaking up the views,” the team explain. “The Conservatory just adds one more beautiful setting to the wider experience of Pennard House.”
At Pennard, no two weddings look the same – and this new space only adds to the sense of freedom and flexibility that couples love. Whether it’s vows in a stylish setting, champagne and canapés with views of the gardens, or simply a quiet moment of reflection, the Conservatory is ready to adapt to every occasion.
It also makes logistical sense: the new building is directly connected to the main house, meaning couples (and guests) can move between ceremony, celebration, and accommodation with ease. It’s practical, of course, but it also feels seamless, carefully considered, and beautifully done.
Of course, the new Conservatory is only part of what makes Pennard House such a special place to get married. This is a venue with an abundance of charm: a Grade II listed manor that’s still family-run, surrounded by rolling countryside, meadows, and cider orchards and just down the road from Glastonbury, the land of music, myth and legend.
There’s a historic on-site church at the bottom of the garden, a garden pavilion for outdoor ceremonies, a stunning Coach House for dining and dancing, and twelve exceptionally comfortable bedrooms that turn your wedding into a relaxed multi-day affair. From slow breakfasts to post-party pizza, it’s a place where everything – and everyone – is warmly welcome.
The food, too, deserves a mention. With in-house catering and seasonal menus designed around your day, Pennard House and its brilliant team ensure all the details are taken care of, while still giving you the space and flexibility to do things your own way and put your own stamp on such a special event.
Over the years, Pennard has earned its place as one of Somerset’s most treasured venues, not just for its setting or history, but for the way it brings people together. Weddings, retreats, milestone weekends: everything feels easy here, and genuinely well hosted.
The new Conservatory adds another dimension. Elegant and understated, it feels like a natural extension of the house – a space that works just as well for winter vows as it does for a breezy afternoon drinks reception. Somewhere to gather, catch up with old friends (and make new ones), and look out across the gardens, whatever the season.
Whether you’re planning an intimate midweek gathering or a full weekend celebration, the Conservatory opens up even more possibilities and elevates all of them. As a ‘blank canvas’, it’s spacious but never cold, elegant without being overly formal, and as the team says, “We can’t wait to see how couples decorate it and make it their own for years to come.”
Neither can we.
