An invitation to a festive feast at a luxurious country house isn’t something I’m inclined to decline, and how glad am I that I didn’t? Mondays really don’t get much better than this: a celebration of good company, impeccable design, and the warmest of welcomes. From the moment I stepped through its doors, it was clear that Coombe End Manor is here to make a statement, and spoiler alert: it’s succeeding.
If Coombe End Manor is new to you, you’re not alone—it’s new to our collection and the wedding scene altogether. But let me make a bold prediction: it won’t remain a best-kept secret for long. While weddings aren’t its sole focus (this is also the spot for private retreats, corporate events, and wellness weekends), the Manor’s potential as a luxury wedding venue is undeniable.
So, what makes it so special? Well, for starters, it sits at the heart of a sprawling 2,000-acre private estate. We’re talking rolling hills, ancient woodlands, and uninterrupted views that make you forget the world outside exists. Then there’s the building itself, which is rich in history (it started life as a friary in the 16th century) yet brimming with fresh, modern energy. The interiors are where this duality shines brightest, thanks to the genius of Yellow London—more on that in a moment.
This particular event—a festive gathering of wedding industry professionals, planners, press, and local entrepreneurs—was a brilliant showcase of what Coombe End Manor clearly does best, blending warmth, creativity, hospitality, and effortless luxury.
Okay, let’s talk about the interiors because, quite frankly, they deserve their own standing ovation. Thanks to the creative eye of Yellow London, every nook, cranny, and corner of Coombe End Manor is a visual feast. Forget safe, neutral palettes—this is a bold, vibrant and cleverly cohesive design. Think clashing patterns that somehow feel harmonious, jewel tones balanced with earthy hues, and antique treasures effortlessly paired with modern comforts.
I’ll confess I spent much of the morning shamelessly wandering off-track during my tour (sorry, not sorry). My camera roll is now packed with snaps of everything from intricate wallpaper details to perfectly styled bookshelves. Yet my favourite discovery was the Garden Bedroom. This master room was possibly one of the boldest designs, with a vibrant green en-suite bathroom, aqua blue tiles, and pops of red in the soft furnishings. It shouldn’t work—but oh, it definitely does!
The interiors feel deeply connected to the history of the building, yet refreshingly contemporary, which is hands-down thanks to Yellow London’s expert storytelling. It’s as if the house itself has had a personality makeover—its charm and quirks remain intact, but now it’s seriously dressed to impress!
The festivities began the moment we arrived, with tea, coffee, and cake in one of the Manor’s inviting reception rooms. There’s something about sitting on a squishy sofa by a roaring fire in a beautifully designed space that instantly makes you feel at home—albeit a very luxurious, meticulously styled version of “home”.
Our host, Tashana, Coombe End Manor’s head of events, set the perfect tone for the day with her welcome speech. There were no rigid schedules or forced activities—just a gentle invitation to explore, indulge, and enjoy. From mini spa treatments (I may have booked myself in for two) to a sound bath in the Club House and even Christmas bauble painting, there was something for everyone. It was the kind of relaxed luxury the team pulls off effortlessly—no fuss, just thoughtful touches that make you feel pampered and welcome.
Lunch was one of the highlights of the day (always!). A grazing table of seasonal dishes awaited us, including vibrant winter salads, perfectly cured salmon, and a rainbow of colourful bites. My plate was practically a work of art—and utterly delicious. We dined in the Manor’s dining room—a space that’s atmospheric without being overly grand, as if it’s been the backdrop to centuries of stories and celebrations. For smaller, more intimate weddings, this room would be an absolute dream.
Currently, larger weddings require a marquee, with several picturesque locations in the gardens to choose from. But the exciting part is that there’s talk of a permanent event space on the horizon. If the team’s existing attention to detail is anything to go by, this new addition will undoubtedly elevate the venue’s appeal even further. That said, there’s something incredibly special about the Manor as it stands now. Just imagine (as I did!) hosting an intimate weekend wedding where your closest friends and family can stay on-site, waking up to those dreamy Cotswold views and gathering in the Manor’s exquisitely designed spaces.
As the day drew to a close, we left with gift bags in hand and sweet treats for the road (thank you!). Coombe End Manor managed to not just put me in the Christmas spirit—it made me want to rally my closest friends, pool our resources, and book this place for a very special occasion.
My parting piece of advice? Don’t sleep on Coombe End Manor. Whether you’re a couple looking for a wedding venue with soul, a planner seeking a space that delivers on luxury and wow-factor, or simply someone who appreciates an exquisitely designed escape, this is a place you’ll want to experience for yourself. Just be warned… once you step through the doors, you may never want to leave.
