The Dolls House is one of my favourite venues – the incredible ‘illustrated’ interiors and the pop-up ethos behind this project add up to one ultra cool wedding venue.
So when I spotted these gorgeous images by Christiana at The Lifestyle Directory I simply had to share the love! Christiana is a fellow blogger, talented chef and lover of weddings. She’s also pretty nifty with a camera! After visiting The Dolls House for dinner, Christiana had to return with lens in hand to capture all of the details… And I’m so glad she did!
But before we dive into her Venue Report, here’s the scoop on this London wedding venue…
The Facts
Location… Hoxton Square, London.
Capacity… 200.
Vibe… Aptly named The Dolls House this unique venue is set over 3 floors with its very own roof terrace. Whilst its exterior may look like any other East London warehouse, inside you are transported to a different era. Each floor is hand illustrated to depict ornate rooms in a grand manor house from the downstairs parlour to the upstairs ballroom.

The Report
Christiana {The Lifestyle Directory}: The first time I visited The Dolls House was to eat at their much talked about pop-up restaurant Pearl. Entering through the club’s unmarked front door feels a lot like falling down the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland. Each flight of stairs led me to another room with it’s own distinct personality and floor to ceiling monochrome wall illustrations. This house cum members club boasts four flights of stairs, many secret nooks and a rooftop overlooking Hoxton Square.
Originally The Dolls House was a textile factory, which is why from the outside it looks like your standard East London warehouse. However once you step inside you realise what vision Adam and Katy, a husband and wife pop-up duo, had to transform the space into it’s current Victorian style. Their inspiration came from Katy’s childhood visits to manor houses and a low decorating budget. Without the means to buy expensive furniture or home accessories Katy, a former illustrator, decided to hand paint every wall in the house using a projector. Their decision to paint everything monochrome and gold gives brides a classic colour scheme that they can easily incorporate into their wedding.
When I photographed The Dolls House, Katy and her team were aptly dressing the venue for an Alice and Wonderland themed wedding reception. From wine in teapots to chocolate mushrooms, it was a classy take on the Mad Hatters Tea party.
What I love about Adam and Katy is that together they are the perfect balance between fun and professional, while always staying stylish. For a Bride this means that no matter what your idea is for your wedding this couple will have the imagination to translate it into reality while making sure both you and the guests are having an experience as unique as the venue…
