Our social darling Lottie went on a little road trip to Bridwell Park for us recently to experience The Boho & Retro Wedding Festival created by Blue Fizz Events.

It was set to be a day full of festival fun, supplier frolics and inspiration galore and we just love the report our girl on the ground came back with! Lottie’s words are perfectly illustrated by Mel from Maxi Photography, we hope you enjoy it…

The Boho & Retro Wedding Festival

Lottie:

While there are many wonderful wedding fairs out there for newly engaged couples, I have never been to one quite like The Boho & Retro Wedding Festival at Bridwell Park. Organised by the fabulous team at Blue Fizz Events, the festival offered an eclectic, inspiring and quite frankly awesome mix of wedding suppliers. It was a brilliant opportunity to meet heaps of talented exhibitors, as well as the chance to explore the magnificent Bridwell.

The family home of Lord Ivar Mountbatten, Bridwell is cushioned in the quaint village of Uffculme in Devon. It’s surrounded by stunning parkland and extensive views of the rolling countryside. It is quite simply put, a beautiful country house wedding venue. Available for exclusive-use, Bridwell has 20 bedrooms onsite so it’s perfect if you want a huge weekend celebration with your family and friends. Both The Orangery and The Chapel were open for viewing over the weekend, and both were just bursting with romance, style and grandeur. The vast outdoor space also lent itself perfectly for a festival full of imagination and inspiration…

From bridal boutiques to savvy stationers, rustic tipis to fabulous photographers, the festival featured every type of wedding supplier that you could possibly need for your wedding day. The Orangery was home to an array of wonderful suppliers who were showcasing cakes, dresses and even a pop-up beauty boudoir. Blue Fizz Events, Darling Buds and Faithful Designs created the most elegant wedding table styling, making the most of the natural light coming into The Orangery. Wooden trestle tables teamed with jars full of greenery created a botanical vibe that worked perfectly. The wedding stationery by Faithful Designs added a gorgeous finishing touch to style an envy-inducing wedding table. I noticed that one of the most fabulous things about The Orangery was the fact that it suited any theme, colour scheme or style of wedding day.

The Orangery also showcased the work of Peboryon Cakes, a team who create the most striking wedding cakes to suit your special day. Whether you’re dreaming of a plush velvet cake or a minimalist masterpiece, the talented team can create anything you want. Based in Penzance, you definitely need to take a peek at their portfolio to discover their delicious designs!

If you’re a self-confessed magpie and you adore all things sparkly, you would have fallen in love with Lovely Bridal. A newly opened bridal boutique based in Honiton, the team showcased gowns by bridal designers such as Charlie Brear, Jesus Peiro and Stephanie Allin. There were rails brimming with sequins, sparkle and gorgeousness! The boutique is definitely one to visit if you’re a stylish bride-to-be, and the accessories are just to die for.

I also had the chance to chat to Christine Trewinnard, an extremely talented woman who creates completely bespoke gowns for brides. Her dresses were nothing short of breath-taking, and they looked just beautiful in The Orangery.

From bow-ties to elaborate tutus, The Wedding Hub had it all at the Boho & Retro Wedding Festival. If you are ever looking for a beautiful dress for your flower girl, I would definitely recommend taking a look at The Wedding Hub as they had a selection of lovely handmade designs that are just perfect for the younger members of your bridal party.

If you came along to the Boho & Retro Wedding Festival at Bridwell, you will know that it would have been impossible to miss the magnificent World Inspired Tents styled by Natalie of Meadowsweet Vintage. Their rustic tipi was one of the most creative spaces I’ve seen, and I found that as soon as I walked in I was just amazed.

Hanging installations entwined with greenery and industrial bulbs looked incredible hanging above the tables. Metres and metres of ribbon garlands and bunting created by Granny Janny’s Bunting made use of the exposed wooden beams, experimenting with colours and styles to show the versatility of the tipi. Huge vases brimming with beautiful blooms by West Dorset Wedding Flowers made a statement as table centrepieces. From Spring pastels to jewel tones, rustic to minimalist, the team styled each and every table differently and the inspiration was undeniable. Nikki of Knots & Kisses created the stationery for the tables, and I couldn’t help but swoon over her recently launched Luxe Collection. The Urban Gothic collection was a particular favourite of mine too.

The warm and welcoming vibe of World Inspired Tents was also there in abundance. I was particularly fond of the cosy chill-out area in the tipi, which featured a fire pit with marshmallows for roasting. What more could you want on your wedding day..? There were benches, rugs and chairs that are ideal if your guests need a little rest from your celebrations. The team mentioned that lots of couples use it is a children’s area for the wedding guests, and I think it’s the perfect spot for puzzles, games and kid’s activities.

It was impossible to ignore Edible Essence in the World Inspired Tents tipi. With a delectable range of cakes to choose from (in particular a very chic concrete-inspired cake), it’s no wonder that Jennifer has been awarded the National Wedding Cake Designer of the Year for 2017.

The Blue Fizz Marquee was home to the wonderful Virginia’s Vintage Hire, who have a treasure trove of goodies for your wedding day. Whether you’re in need of wooden crates, suitcases or tables the team at Virginia’s Vintage Hire will do everything in they can to bring your big day dreams to life.

I also came across the ultra-talented Charlotte Atkinson, who creates beautiful art for couples on their wedding day. Charlotte can paint your wedding venue in watercolour, but can also live paint during the day itself. Such a special gift to treasure after the day!

Each and every one of the suppliers at The Boho & Retro Wedding Festival had something different to offer, and all were as magical as the other. The sun was shining, the inspiration was flowing and there was creativity in every corner imaginable. Colourful, unique and bursting with talented exhibitors, this wedding event is definitely one to note in the diary for next year!

After such a fabulous weekend, the team at Blue Fizz Events are already plotting and planning their next annual Wedding Show in January 2018! Brides & Grooms-to-be keep your eyes peeled for deets on their ‘Decidedly Different Winter Wedding Show‘ at Exeter Castle on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th January 2018!

We’ll no doubt be popping all the information on our Event Diary.

Lots of love…
