Meet the Wedding Team at Aswanley

by Emma Hla

Pay attention people! The gorgeous Aswanley in Aberdeenshire have some Late Availability dates for this summer (Could Saturday 30th July 2016 be your wedding date…?) and Autumn. You can view their dates right here.

Aswanley’s fabulous in-house Wedding Coordinator Lauren is a pro at pulling together weddings in a short time frame, in fact Lauren’s just helped plan a beautiful wedding in 7 weeks! So if you’d like to know more about any of these available 2016 dates then email lauren@aswanley.com.

But before you go dashing off to do just that, why not stick around and meet the wedding team and hear a little more about Aswanley and their Wedding Coordinator extraordinaire Lauren…

Notes from Aswanley

Lauren:

Who are the Wedding Team at Aswanley…?

Lauren, Helen, Pam and a great team of local bar staff make up the team at Aswanley! My role is Wedding & Events Manager, Pam is the owner and lives at Aswanley! She takes great pleasure in showing couples around. Pamela renovated the barn and designed the interiors & gardens. Helen is the Deputy Wedding Day Coordinator.

What is your role when working with couples…?

I’m the first point of contact for couples looking to get married at Aswanley. I take it in turns with Pam to show people around, and then it’s over to me. I’m on hand to help as little or as much as couples require throughout the wedding planning process. I’m there on the day to ensure everything runs smoothly, or occasionally Helen steps in, when I (reluctantly) have to take a day off!

What do you love about your job…?

I love being able to help couples bring together their perfect day. My favourite part of the job is seeing all the elements come together, and on the day co-ordination. I have always thrived under pressure – I love being able to come up with solutions quickly to any issues that might arise.

What do you love about planning weddings at Aswanley…?

I love that Aswanley is such a flexible space – we’ve had intimate winter wedding ceremonies in the fireplace room with the fire roaring in the background and beautiful spring weddings in the garden; and everything in-between. It helps that in Scotland you can get married anywhere!

On the actual day, it amazes me how personal couples can make the space with their own styling. It gives me a real insight into who they are and makes for such a unique day.

What kind of couples choose Aswanley…?

Aswanley appeals to a range of couples due to the space and adaptability of the venue. Many local couples get married at Aswanley but we’ve also had people from as far afield as New Zealand and Australia.

What words best describe your venue & service…?

Flexible, individual and personal.

Do you have a memorable wedding or moment…?

We had our first same sex wedding last year. The girls both wanted to walk down the aisle but they didn’t want to lose the moment of seeing each other for the first time at the start of the ceremony. I suggested doing a ‘reveal’. I had read an article about the rising popularity of this in the US where couples see each other for the first time on their wedding day away from their guests. On the day they did their ‘reveal’ outside on the terrace. They had each chosen very different modes of transport (Alex in a VW Campervan; Sarah in a vintage Land Rover) and had their cars pull up facing each other. The emotion of the moment they first saw each other is something that I will never forget – it was a lovely thing to be part of.

Like what you see at Aswanley…? Fancy having a chat with the Lauren…?

Then do head over to the directory here to discover a little more about this Scottish location and contact the team via their page. Simple!

Lots of love…
