Cocktails and Creative Cuisine: The Barns & Yard Launch Event
The Barns offer a range of beautiful spaces for weddings. Whether you choose a licensed ceremony in the oak beamed Threshing Barn, the striking Cartshed with its floor-to-ceiling windows or the sunlit flagstones of the courtyard; or a blessing in the woodland, the wildflower meadows or beside the lake, there’s a stylish something for everyone.
Barns & Yard opened its doors for weddings for the first time this year, and kicked things off with a suitably stylish launch event that celebrated local suppliers.
“We wanted to showcase the variety of the venue, and the fruits of our labours over the last few years. We were delighted to welcome lovely engaged couples over our launch weekend, but we started off with a lunch and a guided visit for a selection of talented wedding planners, who could use their professional imaginations to visualise what could be done with the spaces we’ve created here.”
A Refined Warmth
Lisi, Kate and the team from Barns & Yard worked closely with award-winning wedding planner and stylist Krysta Smith of For The Love of Weddings for their launch event, and together they created a warm, welcoming and very elegant atmosphere.
The main Threshing Barn was set up with oak trestle tables and contemporary white masters chairs from Wedhead, and the contrast of the rustic and modern worked beautifully with the design of the venue. Woven linens in dove grey and gold charger plates from Vintage Gold China added sophistication, and Cassie at Ivy Inks created some beautifully modern vellum menus.
“It was important to us that we showcased how warm and inviting the Threshing Barn is. Our bespoke designed chandeliers were merrily blazing away, and we had a mixture of taper and pillar candles on the tables for that all-important twinkle.”
Guests began their visit in the Gallery with a specially created mocktail – ‘The Hanley Hallmark’ by Oscar’s Bar Hire – before exploring the barns (decked out beautifully in flowers by Jenny Fleur), the luxury farm cottages (available for couples and up to 8 guests) and the spectacular grounds.
“It was a bit of a risk for us to do this in March, but we were so lucky with the weather, and the first flurries of blossom had started on the trees.”
Time for Lunch
“Tom from Sticky Fig Catering did us proud, with a fabulous six course tasting menu celebrating local produce, prepared live in front of our guests.”
Guests were served cured meats and cheeses, five bean and lentil salad, barbecued salmon and mackerel with Asian slaw, and glazed pulled lamb shoulder cooked in hay and lavender. This was followed by a decadent and delicious ‘Pick Your Own Pudding’ station in the Cider Barn – the most intimate and relaxed of the spaces available at the venue.
