A ‘Home Tour’ of Penton Park

Written by Emma Hla

We’re taking a step into one of our beautiful Hampshire venues today thanks to the talents of Gyan Gurung, a fine art wedding photographer, a natural storyteller and all round lovely, lovely chap. I know the latter because I recently met him for a coffee and I didn’t stop smiling throughout! So if you’re still looking for your photographer then check out Gyan’s website here – it’s beaut.

Gyan is on a little tour of our venue collection and todays subject is Penton Park, a private family run home which hosts up to 20 beautiful weddings a year.

Penton Park is a stunning, south facing, Grade II listed house that provides a super romantic setting for marriage ceremonies and wedding receptions. With elaborate painted ceilings, home-from-home touches and rolling Hampshire countryside views, this wonderful venue truly has something for everyone.

As captured in these images, the stunning photographic opportunities are endless, inside and out. Custodian and daughter-in-law of the owners, the Rolfe family, Danielle says “I love the light at Penton Park, all the rooms are south facing and the sunlight absolutely floods in. Granny and Grandad are responsible for all the decor, they have redecorated throughout using wallpapers with traditional patterns (Zoffany) in order to try and restore the rooms to their former glory.”

Modern day accessibility merges with rural countryside charm here and I’m completely smitten with the array of details and colour. My favourite room has to be The Ballroom with it’s striking pink walls and stunning wallpaper. Danielle’s is the Drawing Room “I just can’t get enough of the ceiling, especially the three central painted murials which are the only bit of original decoration from the 1800’s. I also love the clock and candleabra’s on the mantlepiece in the Sitting Room, they have been in the family for years, but the clock is useless at timekeeping! The bells chime at all hours but they always put a smile on my face, and the candelabra’s when lit cast the most wonderful light in the evening.”

Your Wedding at Penton Park

Whether you are seeking an exclusive home to be yours for the day, with just your closest friends and family; or looking to hold a grand event with up to 180 guests, where you can beautifully dress a marquee in your own style, Penton Park truly can cater for every size of event.

Throughout the year the state rooms are basked in glorious sunlight from the floor to ceiling windows. Yet in winter the house rises to occasion with roaring fires and candlelight throughout. Licensed for up to 91 guests for your civil ceremony, the grandeur of The Ballroom is complimented by the intimacy of the Sitting Room, for those preferring a more intimate wedding experience.

Facilities include a grand entrance, intimate Sitting Room, south facing Drawing Room, stunning Ballroom, and unique Billiards Room.

The Rolfe family and their team pride themselves on providing an exceptional service to each and every one of their couples. Boasting an event management team with over 10 years’ experience in a high profile Knightsbridge venue, this experience and attention to detail is clearly evidenced from their testimonials.

We asked Danielle what can couples expect from their wedding day at Penton Park, she said “A welcome like no other from a family that cares, beautiful elegant rooms that really make you feel special, but still a relaxed enough atmosphere to lead to a fabulous party for you and all of your guests…”

A huge thank you to Gyan for illustrating our ‘Home Tour‘ feature with these yummy photos and of course to Penton Park for making us feel right at home!

Lots of love…
