A ‘Home Tour’ of Holywell Hall

by Emma Hla
Images by Hannah Duffy Photography.
I’m very lucky to have been a guest at this incredible country estate several times now… and I promise, each time is just as magical as the last.

Holywell Hall is a truly romantic and breathtakingly beautiful hidden gem tucked away in the stunning Lincolnshire countryside, close to the beautiful historic market town of Stamford and super close to Peterborough train station, which means London is less than an hour away!

It has been a pleasure working with the owners to get their beautiful family home wedding-ready and Holywell Hall officially launched last Spring. Their books are open for a select few dates a year and I believe, aside from ceremony only bookings, there’s just one date left for 2019 and one date left for 2020 for a full wedding weekend! So folks, if you fall in love today then get in touch!

There is no one better to introduce this venue than their in-house Wedding Planner Katrina Otter Weddings. “I first visited Holywell Hall in 2015 and the emotions that I first felt of pure excitement and awe as I drove through the main gates, past the lakes and up to the house itself are the same emotions that I still feel today and each and every time that I visit. Holywell Hall is an undeniably beautiful and uniquely charming venue full of immense possibilities and quite frankly, one of the most spectacular places in England to say your vows. From the beautifully maintained grounds and gardens to the light-filled Orangery, the Stable block accommodation and private bowling alley to the chandelier adorned Grand Hall, Holywell really does have it all. If you’re dreaming of a quintessential English and classic country garden wedding, then Holywell is the perfect setting.”

A wedding at Holywell Hall is indescribably special. From the moment you begin to make your way along the sweeping drive, you enter an estate of boundless charm and character. The majestic backdrop of the Grade II* listed Georgian Hall, the beautifully maintained grounds and gardens and the freedom to create a wedding day that’s undeniably yours are just some of the elements that make Holywell Hall such an exceptional and unique location for weddings.

As a private residence, Holywell Hall remains an exclusive secret, a hidden jewel that provides the most spectacular backdrop to your wedding day. The venue makes for the dreamiest quintessential English backdrop, perfect for a classic country garden wedding.

There are several ceremony options at Holywell Hall, all with their own unique charm. Let the hidden charm of their gardens bring natural beauty to your wedding with a ceremony in the Garden Terrace or within the Walled Garden itself. If you’re looking for a statement backdrop, then you have the light-filled Orangery, Fishing Pavilion or recently uncovered and renovated Dovecote to choose from. For your ceremony only, they can also open the house doors to you and your guests to say your vows in the stately Grand Hall or light-filled Garden Room.

The venue even has its very own private Church, St Wilfrid’s, which is the perfect spot for an intimate blessing.

Your wedding reception at Holywell Hall will be, quite rightly, a celebration you will always remember. For your drinks reception there are numerous locations within the grounds and gardens that provide the perfect setting for champagne, cocktails and canapés. After drinks, you and your guests can head to your marquee on the croquet lawn outside the Orangery – possibly my favourite space.

The icing on this country-estate-cake is the accommodation and, for exclusive marquee weddings, they are pleased to offer you the delightful Rose Cottage and the recently refurbished Stables for the Friday and Saturday nights of your wedding weekend. The beautifully furnished Rose Cottage includes two en-suite double bedrooms, sleeping up to four people. In addition to gym and spa facilities, The Stables has a further three bedrooms, sleeping up to eight, as well as a kitchenette and dedicated area for bridal prep.

A beautiful country house wedding venue – wouldn’t you agree? If you fancy a nose around some of our other venues in our ‘Home Tour’ series then you can do so here.
