Apart from the venue (obviously) and the dress (duh!), I think the wedding ring shopping moment of planning our big day was one of my favourite bits…
I also think my husband would say the same, that and the cake.
I have quite a classic rock (the boy did very well), so from the start I was coveting diamonds for my wedding band. But, in order for the ring to stand out and to make more of a contemporary statement, I chose rose gold. I liked the idea of looking at two different metals for two different life events. It’s divine, and my heart skips a beat every time it flashes in the light.
So today I want to share a little lust-worthy find that may just help you with your own wedding ring shopping; Alison Macleod’s collection is simple, elegant and modern… Perfect for the City Chic Bride.
Come on, let’s take a look…

Alison: I have been running my jewellery business since leaving art college 11 years ago and I now have a studio in the centre of Glasgow. I have always had a real hands on approach to all areas of my business especially in the making process. Aside from making jewellery I love pottering around junk shops and flea markets looking for treasures, baking and of course spending precious time with my family.
Typically my main push into the wedding market was my own wedding 3 years ago. I had made the odd wedding ring previous to this but when I designed my own ring, the Catkin Wedding Ring in 18ct gold, I really enjoyed the challenge of creating interest and intrigue on such a small surface area.
Then I met the lovely lot at the Glasgow Wedding Collective, a group of fellow wedding suppliers with an artisan philosophy and fresh approach. I honestly can’t believe how lucky I am to be doing my job. I meet loved up couples and make them the one object that they will wear for the rest of their lives. I sit at my work bench and create jewels using some of the most beautiful materials in the world, bliss!
My service
I offer a wide range of wedding rings and have an ever growing portfolio of bespoke engagement rings as well as an extensive silver collection.
My unusual but very wearable patterned wedding rings complement a vintage engagement ring perfectly. Each design is available in all of the precious metals including my current favourite, rose gold.

I do a lot of sales on-line and have a fully comprehensive advice page to put couples at ease with making such an important purchase over the internet. Before the making process begins I send out ring sizers to make sure the final ring is a perfect fit.
The final ring is presented in a vintage ring box chosen by the customer from my ever evolving collection.
I find it hard to sum up my own work but someone once described my jewellery as having ‘relaxed elegance’ which I quite like. I take my design inspiration from heirloom jewellery, flea market finds and many many museum visits.
I have a very personal approach dealing directly with my customers to make sure they have all of the information that they need and are completely happy at every stage. I want my customers to come away with a wedding ring they adore, instilled with love that will last for the rest of their life.
My wedding ring prices start at £190 and with my varied styles and metals I have rings to fit most budgets. Prices include a thorough consultation, ring sizers sent to your home and of course your choice of pretty vintage ring boxes.
my Advice
The wedding rings may be the tiniest part of a wedding day but it is the one object that stays with you for the rest of your life, so I think it’s pretty important to invest in something special…
