Over to Ella and the Rewritten team…
Rewritten have always been huge fans of Coco Wedding Venues and love how they find and share so many interesting and different venues for all you wonderful couples. Our brand ethics and values go so hand in hand that we decided to blog swap and share our top tips on choosing bridesmaid dresses, in return for a fabulous blog of amazing London venues which you can find over on our website.
But let’s get down to why you’ve clicked on this particular article shall we? Here’s what you need to think about when choosing your bridesmaids’ dresses…
Start with research
Do some online shopping, create Pinterest boards, look through Instagram, flick through magazines and just see what you like the look of! It’s always good when you start thinking about bridesmaids’ dresses to have a rough idea of what you want.
Colour
Thinking about colours can be tricky as you might want to set your colour theme for your wedding first, or you may want to pick your bridesmaids dress colour and base the colour of your room decoration and flowers around this. Think about what’s more important to you and of course this may change throughout the planning process.
Your girls
At this point you have probably chosen your bridesmaids for your big day so you know how many dresses you need. Of course it’s important that you find dresses that you want your bridesmaids to wear, but remember to ask your girls too throughout the process so they can have their input. At the end of the day, you want them to be comfortable and feel amazing!
Body shapes
The days of dressing your bridesmaids all in the same dress are over. It’s more than likely that your bridesmaids are all a mix of body shapes and sizes so you might want to think about mixing and matching to get dresses that suit each of your girls individually. Rewritten has sizes from 8 – 26 so you will definitely find something perfect for everyone!

Trying on
Most bridesmaids/bridal brands will have up to a 6-month lead time, but at Rewritten it’s different. You can come in, choose and purchase your dresses, and have them in your hands within 2 days! With this being said, we don’t recommend you leave your shopping until the week of the wedding day, and recommend you get booked in around 12 weeks before to leave enough time for alterations if they are needed (but if you’re in need of a last minute dress, we’ve got you covered!)
Consider the weather
Think about what time of year you will be getting married. Rewritten styles aren’t seasonal and are all suitable for any time of year, but you might want to go for a strappy style if it’s hot, or a style with a little sleeve if it’s going to be in the colder seasons.

Alterations
Although we have a great selection of styles and sizes, you may need some slight alterations especially if you have bridesmaids more on the petite size, which is why the longer lead time is recommended. Rewritten work with many tailors who they can recommend to you if you need any alterations.
Accessories
Once you’ve chosen your styles, you will want to think about accessories. We love a nude heel with our satin styles and something more shiny with our crepe. Again though, as you know we are huge advocates for a mix and match and so we do love a metallic heel with our satins! Also consider if you want your girls to wear any jewellery, we think the simpler the better – let the dress do the talking!

Underwear
Your girls will need underwear which will be comfortable and not be seen under the dress. We offer underwear solutions, but recommend bra strap converters or nipple covers, and seam free panties!
Re-wear
Rewritten design dresses to be worn again after the wedding, we like to call it sustainable bridesmaids dressing. If there are styles you love which your girls would wear again after the wedding, it might be an idea to go for these which will help the planet and get more wear out of the dress too!
