Found among the rolling Devon hills, Brickhouse Vineyard set the scene for a relaxed, stylish day filled with lots of personal touches. From the carefully chosen florals to the never-ending flow of fresh pizza, every detail reflected K&W’s laid-back yet thoughtful approach to saying “I do.” Here’s how their wedding day unfolded—captured beautifully by Nova Wedding Photography.
As soon as we first visited Brickhouse Vineyard, we felt it was the perfect venue for our wedding reception. We wanted an intimate celebration with our family and closest friends, and we were immediately captured by the location, surrounded by the rolling Devon hills. The staff were also so down-to-earth and friendly!
For Will, this was very simple. He and his groomsmen got their navy suits from Moss. Koren’s dress was from Perfect Day Bride in Bath. She loved the contemporary twist on a classic dress and knew as soon as she tried it on that it was the one! The bridesmaid dresses were all dusty blue, each chosen to reflect their individual style.
Our colour theme was based around the dusty blue and navy outfits of the bridesmaids and groomsmen, which then fed into our choice of flowers and other things like the wedding stationery. We took a relatively laid-back approach to style, keeping with the day’s relaxed vibe, and let the venue and its setting do the talking. Our florist, Sophie Millington, ran with this styling perfectly, complementing the space and our outfits with beautiful natural flowers and colours.
We had a really fun and easy time working with Sophie, who totally understood what we were aiming for—and the results were perfect. Having shared our initial thinking on the likely colour theme of the wedding, Sophie pulled together a proposal that focused on pink roses and other flowers and colours that complemented our outfits and the venue.
The best part of the wedding preparations for us was definitely the cake tasting. We came away from the Crafty Cakes, unable to choose a favourite – so in the end, we went for three layers of three different flavours: Raspberry & White Chocolate, Lemon Drizzle and Carrot Cake. We were delighted to find out that one of Koren’s bridesmaids had put a bit of each in a box to enjoy on the plane as we flew off on our mini-moon the next day!
Mulberry provided catering, including canapés and a three-course wedding breakfast. They were really easy to work with throughout and were great at accommodating guests’ dietary requirements and the venue’s facilities. We are still thinking about the canapés, particularly the seared rump steak and horseradish cream profiteroles. So many of our guests complimented the food when we caught up with them after the wedding!
We had the Brickhouse Pizza Truck for evening food, providing a seemingly never-ending supply of fresh pizzas to keep everyone going!
After booking Brickhouse Vineyard, securing Nova Wedding Photography as our photographer was our next priority, and we are so glad we did! We were initially drawn to the natural styling of their photos, which we knew would look great now and in the future, as well as how friendly and relaxed they were. On the day, we found Nova to be brilliant – they managed to get so many stunning photos while blending in with the guests, capturing many great moments. Ahead of the wedding day, we also did an engagement shoot on a South Devon beach, and we found this was a great way to get more comfortable in front of the camera and working with Nova.
It is hard to choose a single best part of the day but we have both tried! For Will, it was the start of the reception, when we enjoyed drinks and canapés on the terrace in the sunshine while seeing our friends and family for the first time as a married couple. For Koren, it was getting the chance to take golden hour photos during the evening – it was so relaxed, giving us another opportunity to enjoy the beautiful grounds at Brickhouse Vineyard.
The key is to enjoy the day, as it just goes so fast. This was made so much easier knowing that the Brickhouse team would take care of everything in the run-up to and on the day, especially with coordinating all the timings and all the different suppliers. And, of course, everything worked out perfectly, just as expected!
