Rustic Elegance at Oakfield Gardens

A hidden gem located in the heart of Worcestershire, Oakfield Gardens offers a unique setting for couples to really put their own stamp on their wedding day. Situated within the grounds of an independent school which boasts an arboretum, secret gardens and woodland, the venue’s Nordic tipis are tucked away behind lush hedgerows and trees.

This styled shoot took place in October when the autumn leaves adorning the ground really managed to enhance the colour scheme of the shoot, bringing the rustic vibe to life. ‘Rustic elegance’ was the concept for this editorial so we used tones of white, creams, golds and terracotta for the palette.

Sophie Wynne-Owen Bridal provided us with two dresses for the day. The first was a one of her own – a beautiful bespoke satin dress which highlighted the chic, classic element of the shoot. The other was Amelie, a floral lace sweetheart neckline gown by Madi Lane Bridal which was a more relaxed boho style. NB Hair created a sleek low bun, which we styled with a gorgeous pearl beaded headband from Fox Shelton Brent. To finish the look Make Up by Melissa Kay opted for a soft glam make up style with nude, earthy tones, which complemented the overall colour palette.

Long trestle tables were styled with vintage china plates and glassware, gold beaded charger plates, seagrass charger mats, gold cutlery and stone-coloured linen all provided by Vintage Gold China. To add a little drama we used low floral arrangements, smaller stem vases scattered on the table tops, and dotted tapered candles throughout. White chiffon table runners and chair covers were supplied by The Wedding House which added a delicate, elegant touch. The incredibly talented Perfect Cakes designed a floating tiered cake which was a stunning twist on a classic white wedding cake. She included a draped material effect joining the tiers which added another layer of texture to the shoot.

Bellapeach Creative‘s use of colour in her stationery really helped to enhance the subtle pops of terracotta and brought warmth to the set. She included illustrations of the florals used in our arrangements which really tied the whole look of the shoot together.

Old barrels, crates, distressed milk churns, gold photo frames, hurricane vases, log slices, suitcases and apothecary bottles helped to enhance the rustic vibe. These were provided by Simply Borrowed Wedding Hire and just worked so well in our tipi setting alongside the elegant decor.

Zara from The Green Room Malvern, not only helped with the concept but she also provided the beautiful florals for this shoot. The design included classic creams with a modern twist using porcelina spray roses, reflexed eustoma, bracken and dianthus. This wonderful mix of dried and fresh flowers created a contemporary, stunning look. We also had a fabulous dried pampas wing arch created by the very lovely Cara at Dried and Tied Bouquets. This acted as the most incredible backdrop for photos, nestled between the trees in our arboretum.

We wanted to show couples that tipi weddings do not always have to include bunting and be in a boho chic style. They really are a blank canvas venue space which you can make your mark on and be as creative as you like!
