I know, I know… We’re all very excited that summer seems to be here with it’s bright smily face but today I’m throwing it back to winter – so please indulge me. Imagine cozy blankets, steaming mugs of mulled wine, red berries & fir cones plus a ton of glittering candles –  are you there…? Good, because this pretty much sums up Kira & AJ’s gorgeous winter wedding!

The couple opted for a wedding at home but Kira absolutely had her heart set on a tipi and she chose World Inspired Tents to make her canvas dreams come true. We’re kicking off with their lovely wedding film by Gorgeous Films and folks it really shows just how versatile (and magical) a winter tipi wedding can be…

So be inspired and enjoy!

Notes from the Bride

Kira:

Our wedding venue was our family garden! We chose it for sentimental and financial reasons. But I absolutely knew I wanted a tipi so the best way for us to afford it was to save on the venue!

My wedding dress was 1920’s inspired, it had a drop-waist, low back and was covered in sequins! I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it but needed some alterations to make it work for my shape. Also, it was very forgiving! I didn’t need to spend months before the big day starving myself and living in the gym as there wasn’t a corset in sight!

Bridesmaids wore a similar style – short white dresses with sequins. We wanted our sartorial choices to fit with the wintery icy theme. I left the hubby to it! He has a good eye for style so I trusted him to look dapper on the day. I did go shoe shopping with him though.

I wanted our wedding to have a Winter Wonderland feel; we got engaged on a frozen lake surrounded by candles in Sweden so I wanted to recreate that atmosphere! We had oodles of tea lights hanging everywhere, fairy lights, reindeer skins and obviously the fire pits!

Philip John Taylor was our florist – I LOVE HIM! I went for wintery whites and ashy cornflowery blues, with blue thistles. My favourite flowers are white anemones and Philip managed to get them in there as well, despite them being out of season. They were great as they have a blue inside which picked up the thistles perfectly.

We went for a photography duo – Suzie & Harley. They were great, and really handy having two of them as it meant we have lush photos of both of us getting ready in the morning not just one of us.

Best Part of the Day…

All of it! I loved the Ceremony and loved seeing people’s reactions when they first walked into the Tipi. We kept them as a surprise at the back of the house so no-one had any idea what they were going to walk into.
