Laura & Andy’s Pennard House Wedding

by Caitlin Hoare
Images by Heart Full of Tea.
“Laid back and full of love”

Laura & Andy’s beautiful summer wedding at Pennard House unfolds below; think a riot of colourful flowers, giant disco balloons, a very yummy cake and some fiercely independent flower girls and page boys who manage to steal the show and break the ice at the same time! All perfectly captured by the wonderful Heart Full of Tea.

Over to L & A to get us in the mood for 2021’s summer of love…

Notes from the Couple

Laura + Andy say…

We would describe our day as laid-back and full of love. We didn’t spend too much time planning really, it all came together quite organically (thank goodness) and our Mums did most of the work for us!

Our day was unique to us because we basically just picked and did all the things we love! The flowers and the giant gold disco balloons were a particular fave from the day.

We found our caterers through Pennard House. We chose The French Kitchen because their food was homely, delicious and simple. We decided to go with Holly Miller Cake Designs for our wedding cake because she had some amazing creations on her website, she was local to the venue, really friendly and her prices were really reasonable (the cake was also delicious).

We chose Branch & Bloom for our flowers because Becky’s creations looked amazing- we did a ‘floral brief’ session with her at her shop and it was my favourite part of the wedding planning!

My Mum found our amazing venue, Pennard House. We were very keen to have a house that all our close family could stay in and somewhere that we could have all to ourselves for 3 nights – it was just amazing!

Our band was the hardest thing to find – we spent hours on Alive Network! Eventually we settled on The Beat Collective, we thought they’d suit all tastes as they’re a soul, Motown, pop band – they were absolutely amazing and made the evening reception.

We definitely wanted to be comfortable and just look ourselves in our wedding outfits. We picked our outfits independently of each other and they just so happened to work well together!

We found Emma/Heart Full of Tea through a Google search of ‘candid wedding photographer in Somerset’. As soon as we saw the website, we knew Emma was the photographer for us!

Emma is not only an amazing photographer but also a brilliant person to have around on your wedding day. She works in the background but also takes control with the right level of assertiveness when she needs to rally people into group shots! We both felt really comfortable around Emma – when we had group and couple shots, she was really charming, familiar, funny and enthusiastic which was infectious and you can really see those feelings coming through in our photographs.

We can’t recommend Emma enough and can honestly never thank her enough for capturing our day so perfectly. THANK YOU.

Best part of the day

Our favourite part of the day has to be when all our flower girls and page boys, a.k.a our nieces and nephews, threw their confetti up in the air just before they got to the start of the aisle and then proceeded to scatter running in different directions trying to pick it up. All the while, my sisters (bridesmaids) were running behind them trying to funnel them down the aisle. It absolutely did not go to plan, but it was hilarious and the perfect ice-breaker… definitely eased our nervousness!

From one couple to another…

Our advice would be to not overthink or over-complicate it. Decide at the beginning what is important to you and just go from there.
