Jaz & Michael: Stylish, Relaxed Celebration at Sandon Manor

Written by Emma Hla
Jaz and Michael’s wedding at Sandon Manor was a perfect blend of relaxed elegance and vibrant fun, and the venue’s chic interiors and stunning countryside setting provided the ideal backdrop.

Jaz chose a beautiful lace-detailed Bardot neckline dress, while Michael looked dapper in a light grey three-piece suit. Their handcrafted table settings added a personal touch to the green and white décor. Cambridge Dining Co. served a sophisticated seasonal menu, including Pea & Shallot Ravioli and The White Rooms, an alternative party band, created a lively, gig-like atmosphere in Sandon Manor’s club room.

Notes from the Venue

The Venue

Jaz and Michael chose Sandon Manor for its perfect blend of relaxed, fun, and super stylish vibes. They loved the exclusive on-site stay for the whole weekend, allowing them to savour every moment of their special day. The bespoke club room at Sandon Manor was the icing on the cake for Jaz, providing the ideal space for the vibrant party atmosphere she envisioned. Drawn to the chic interiors, countryside setting, and stunning grounds, Jaz and Michael fully embraced the venue’s charm.

The Fashion

Michael wore a three-piece light grey suit, while Jaz looked stunning in a cap-sleeved dress with lace detail and a Bardot neckline by Morilee, purchased from Ivory & Lace in Toddington, Bedfordshire, owned by the wonderful Sarah.

The bridesmaid dresses were a mix: Elle wore a sleeved dress from Coast, and the other three bridesmaids, Sasha, Lily, and Annie, wore dresses from Azazie. Azazie offers sample material swatches, allowing the colours to match perfectly. Michael’s suit and the groomsmen’s jackets were from Marc Darcy.

The Décor & Flowers

With a sophisticated green and white theme, the decor featured handmade table settings and placemats lovingly hand-drawn by Jaz and her mum. These added a personal and stylish touch to the celebration.

Jaz and Michael’s florist was the talented mother-daughter team, Charles & Faye. They created Jaz’s dream wedding florals with classic white and green arrangements, including white roses and peonies in her bouquet. Based in Hertfordshire, they worked closely with the couple to bring their vision to life. The colour scheme perfectly complemented Sandon Manor’s chic natural venue with its blush, setting plaster walls, lime-washed furniture, natural wood, and polished concrete floors.

The Food & Drink

The catering was provided by Cambridge Dining Co., featuring a menu of Pea & Shallot Ravioli with Romesco Sauce, Confit Shallots, Crispy Capers, Lemon Oil, and Pea Shoots to start, followed by Lamb Shoulder Pave with Provençale Crumb, Pea & Wild Garlic Purée, and Roast Chicken with Girolle & Trompette Mushroom, and Smoked Pumpkin Purée. For dessert, guests had a choice of Sticky Toffee Pudding with Ginger Oat Crumble, Butterscotch Sauce, and Caramel Cream, or Passionfruit & Vanilla Crème Brûlée with Popping Candy, Passionfruit Gel & Pearls, and white Chocolate. Instead of cake, guests enjoyed handmade sourdough pizzas from CDC’s bespoke pizza truck throughout the party.

The Photographer

Kate Gray Photography captured the natural and heartfelt moments of the day. Based in Berkshire, Kate and Jon Gray travel to shoot weddings. They excel at capturing love and life in the little moments that are easy to forget, helping couples remember their special day.

Best Part of the Day

Staying true to their musical roots, Jaz and Michael chose an alternative party band, The White Rooms, an indie rock five-piece playing guitar-driven anthems from rock royalty. Sandon Manor’s club room provided the perfect space for their desired gig-like atmosphere, making their wedding truly memorable. Picking the best part of the day is impossible since it was perfect from start to finish. However, a highlight was after the meal when everyone felt relaxed, happy, and present. They headed to the stunning grounds with their wedding party for some incredible sunset photos. With music playing and bottles flowing, it was a fun time that quickly led into the first set by their amazing band.

Advice

Focus on personal touches like Jaz’s handmade table settings and placemats for a fun, relaxed, and stylish wedding. Choose a versatile venue like Sandon Manor, which offers abundant space and bespoke rooms for each part of the day without room turnovers. Keep the atmosphere light, embracing simplicity in decor and prioritising guest comfort. Sandon Manor can accommodate up to 21 guests on-site for a two-night stay. Hire a great band to keep the dance floor alive, and most importantly, enjoy every moment and let your personalities shine through!
