This beautiful February winter wedding is the perfect intro to Holdsworth House – a new venue in our ever-evolving collection. I absolutely adore the details from C&D’s celebration, in particular the way so much thought was put into their big-day fashion, mixing traditional elements with heirloom touches.
Charlotte says…
As soon as we walked in to Holdsworth House we were are greeted with the warmth of both its open wood fires and amazing staff. Our first visit was an impromptu stop to look at a potential wedding venue, the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful with information on the venue, both of us were sold! Having everything in one place for a stress free day was what we found at Holdsworth House.
Originally, our date was set in 2021 and like many couples we were at the mercy of the constant changing and challenging guidelines. The wedding team kept in contact with us and were always on hand to answer any questions and worries we had, as well as changing our date with ease.
In keeping with our venue, we wanted to capture a traditional, timeless style. I wore a full-sleeved open illusion back dress (which I was thankful for when out in the snow!) by Enzoni. My something new was complemented with my something borrowed: Swarovski crystal earrings and necklace was teamed with my mother’s own wedding veil. The vintage veil had my something blue atttached, and some hand-sewn embroidery in the detail, which my father added in. Each member of my family was able to contribute to my full ensemble, including my brother who gifted me my wedding shoes. Both mine and my bridesmaid’s makeup and hair were done in a very natural style.
The groom’s party wore English chequered, dark blue Marc Darcy suit with flecks of orange. The suits were styled with paisley ties and looked perfect for the winter season. They also complemented the pops colour in the wedding bouquet.
Our decor mainly comprised of our flower arrangements, as we didn’t want to take away from historical detailing we found throughout Holdsworth House.

Our reception room was brought to life by our venue dressing team – Attention to Detail. After providing some guidance on ideas we liked, Ros and her team exceeded our expectations by creating beautiful arrangements of natural green foliage with accents of colour coming from gypsophila, lavender, craspedia, roses, chrysanthemums and a variety of beautiful wild flowers.
Our wedding breakfast had everyone raving about it! We decided on scallops and the pork belly for our starter, which was perfectly cooked for each of our guests. Our main course was beef sirloin, followed by a desert of warm crumble to make everyone feel warm and full for the snowy winter night. We could not fault any of the food and all our guests’ dietary requests were met with care and consideration.
Our cake was a simple three-tiered cake, with each layer a different flavour of sponge wrapped in a vanilla frosting.
Our photographers were husband and wife team, John and Ali (Dot & Scolly). Having two photographers meant they were able to capture the candid moments throughout the day. We were blown away by our pictures and the natural joy captured within them.

Best part of the day
There were so many great moments on our day; from the surprise singing waiters and the snowfall that created a picture-perfect white winter wedding, to finally marrying my best friend. But having all our friends and family celebrating with us on our special day, after the turbulent year, was all we could have asked for.
From one couple to another…
Make sure to take 10 minutes out of your day with your partner, stand back and take it all in. Ask your venue wedding coordinator or photographer to make sure you get this time alone.
