With a stunning silver birch arch created by Garden Gate, whimsical vintage styling, and a surprise shanty band that had everyone on their feet, every moment was filled with love, family, and a touch of Cornish drizzle that only added to the magic—proof that even Plan B can be a dream come true.
Cornwall was the only location we ever considered. It’s such a special place for both of us—my home, the place where I grew up and where Ben spent so many happy holidays as a child. It’s also where we got engaged, so it felt like everything had come full circle. Sharing this magical part of Cornwall with our guests was a dream come true. When we first came across Tredudwell, I knew it was perfect for us. I love everything about the creative process, so it was important to find a venue where we could make it ours and tell our kind of love story. We needed somewhere that felt like a blank canvas but had everything needed to make the day run smoothly.
We wanted a venue that brought the countryside and coast together with lots of outdoor space that felt natural and unspoiled, inviting everyone to wander and take it all in. Tredudwell was everything we wanted—those breathtaking views, the barn with its beautiful glass frontage, and the ability to embrace the outdoors even when the weather didn’t cooperate. On the day when the rain came, it wasn’t stressful at all. We had the perfect indoor option, which still felt just as magical.
The Manor House added something even more special. It was so romantic and gave us a space to stay, relax, and share those moments with family.
I always knew I wanted my dress to come from Halfpenny London. I’d been following their designs for ages, and they completely fit the vision I had in my head. When I found the one—a pairing of the Dayton dress with the Mayfair skirt—it was everything I wanted and more. It gave me two stunning looks in one. I loved having the Mayfair skirt for a dramatic silhouette during the ceremony and being able to switch things up in the evening by removing it. The Issa shrug, with its incredible sleeves, added so much romance—I honestly wish I could wear them every day! The veil tied it all together, and in the breeze, it felt like I’d stepped into the pages of a romance novel.
I wanted something soft, romantic, and natural for my hair that would complement my veil rather than overshadow it. RoHair completely got the brief, and I felt like the best version of myself. Makeup was just as important. I wanted to look like me but also like a bride on the best day of her life, and Charlotte Albert was amazing. She created a soft, elegant finish, which beautifully complemented the romantic vibe I’d planned for the day.
I had been following Becca from Garden Gate on Instagram for a while, and as a keen gardener, I was so excited to work with her. When Ben and I chose Tredudwell, we fell in love with its surroundings and started dreaming of an outdoor wedding that embraced everything we loved about Cornwall. But, as the big day approached, the great British weather had other plans! With double rain on the forecast and no hint of sunshine, we realised Plan A wouldn’t happen. Letting go of our outdoor ceremony vision was tough, but Becca was incredible. Together, we quickly switched gears to Plan B, transforming the indoor space into something equally magical.
We decided to bring the outdoors in, starting with a beautiful foliage beam over the barn’s entrance, which hung above the stunning bar I’d sourced. Becca used a silver birch arch as the centrepiece for our ceremony backdrop, and we lined the entire aisle with glowing candles to create an intimate, cosy feel. Even our outdoor furniture found a new home at the front of the ceremony, adding a relaxed and personal touch.
We left the barn doors open so the misty views could still be a part of the day. Facing those romantic, atmospheric surroundings made everything feel so special—like it was meant to be this way all along. The reception space stayed open, too, because after all the effort we’d put into sourcing vintage crockery and other details, it felt right to let the spaces flow together. The results were breathtaking. The misty weather gave everything a magical, almost otherworldly vibe. When I saw how beautifully Lyra & Moth captured it, it reminded me of something straight out of a Poldark episode—just dreamy.
If you’re ever worried about going with Plan B, don’t be! With the right team around you, it can be as special as your original vision, if not more. Cornwall’s weather is unpredictable, but Becca worked her magic, and we couldn’t have been happier with how it all came together.
The styling was one of my favourite parts of the entire process. I loved having the chance to pour my creativity into it, and I spent a year gathering vintage glassware, cutlery, and plates from antique shops, charity stores, and car boot sales. I sourced linens and fabrics and even crafted details like bunting from vintage lace and ribbons and chandeliers from old lampshades. It all came together to create this whimsical, romantic, and relaxed vibe that felt so perfectly us. Every detail reflected the love and care we’d put into the day, and seeing it all come to life was pure magic.
Our cake was extra special because a friend made it for us. It was simple but meaningful, with layers of Cornish cream and local strawberries. It fit seamlessly into the rest of the styling and tasted amazing—which, for us, was the most important thing! We did not want to go for a typical three-course meal wedding breakfast, so we chose Kernow Forno, who offered the freshness of incredible local produce with the versatility and flexibility of buffet style but also superbly organised and efficient. He provided some fabulous wood-fired pizzas, probably the best ones I have ever tasted!
From the beginning, we knew we wanted Lyra & Moth to capture our day. Their whimsical, romantic style was exactly what we were looking for, and they delivered beyond our expectations. The weather on our wedding day—misty with a touch of Cornish drizzle—added to the magic. It felt like something from a romantic painting, and Sarah and Jon captured it perfectly. We’ll never forget wandering the grounds of Tredudwell with them, surrounded by swirling mist and glimpses of the Manor House in the distance.
It’s so hard to pick one! Styling everything was a personal highlight because it reflected who we are as a couple. But the best part was having all our favourite people together to celebrate with us. One of the most unforgettable moments was our evening party, especially when The Stuns’ls—my dad’s favourite Cornish shanty band—took to the stage. It was a complete surprise for everyone, and seeing everyone up on their feet, singing and dancing, was pure joy.
Don’t hold back on your creativity! Tredudwell is the perfect place to make your wedding truly yours, so be bold and let your imagination run wild. The team is fantastic—lean on them when you need to—and most importantly, enjoy every moment of the planning process. It’s all part of your love story.
