Earthy, Boho Wedding Inspiration at Browning Bros.

Written by Emma Hla
For this earthy, boho, woodland wedding styled shoot we’re heading to Browning Bros. Tey Brook Orchard in Essex.

With a fire pit and log seating, tents and yurts for the couple and a few of your nearest and dearest to stay, this relaxed ‘glamping’ venue is the perfect setting for a laid-back wedding.

The colour palette, the suppliers and the setting are a dream – thank you to Makeup by Sabina M and Kate Boston Photography for sharing.

For this Earthy Boho Woodland Wedding styled shoot, we used Browning Bros. Tey Brook Orchard as the backdrop. With a fire pit and log seating, tents and yurts for the couple and a few of your nearest and dearest to stay, this relaxed ‘glamping’ venue is the perfect setting for a woodland, boho, laid-back wedding.

The accent colour for the shoot was burnt orange, reflected in the draping, signage, props, flowers, stationery and makeup. This was paired with complementary peach, coral, beige and ivory throughout. This colour palette worked perfectly in the late summer/early Autumn warm light.

Jo, With Love and Lace, designed and handmade the bespoke bridal dress and bridesmaid dress for this shoot and Matchimony’s rose gold and dusky pink dressing gowns were modelled in the yurt. The skirt was simple and understated and the top of the bridal gown was made in a floral stretch lace with a deep-V and low back, accentuated with Sarah-Jane’s, Bish Bosh Becca, delicate pearl and rose gold lariat back drop necklace. This was paired with matching drop earrings, bracelets and a pearl choker.

I went with a monochromatic warm autumnal makeup look on our bride model Ella. Rust and burnt orange tones were used on the eyes, blown out and effortless and paired with a warm brown lip. The skin was kept fresh and glowing with a peach liquid blush and cream highlighter echoing the warm sunlight of the late summer afternoon peeking through the tree canopy at Browning Bros. Kirsty, Hair and Makeup by Kirsty, continued the boho vibes on Ella with a textured up do, halo braid and some loose wispy tendrils. Our woodland boho bride’s look was completed with a whimsical flower crown from C Taylor’s Floristry.

Our bridesmaid model, Heva, wore a burnt golden orange stretch lace wrap dress that beautifully tied in with the colour scheme of the shoot. Sarah-Jane’s gold toned drop necklace, earrings and bracelet with clear Swarovski stones were a complementary addition. Sabina again used warm rusty and neutral tones, just a little more subdued than our Bride’s makeup look and Kirsty went with a relaxed long boho braid, scattered with flowers throughout for an offbeat look.

Not forgetting our groom, Tim wore an informal outfit from ASOS, featuring a tan skinny chinos, burgundy braces and topped with a cool camel wide brim pork pie hat. Tim wore his own white shirt and brown boots to complete this true bohemian look.

The shoot was styled using a range of vintage and reclaimed furniture and props from Anthology Vintage Hire alongside Mia Sylvia’s soft and hand-dyed linens to create an intimate woodland ceremony, dining area and a relaxed and cosy boho lounge area.

For the ceremony, Mia created a wonderful draping installation, using a mixture of hand-dyed burnt orange, beige and ivory linens that framed the aisle in an earthy and organic way. Persian rugs with orange, beige and brown tones were used in place of an aisle runner and folding wooden chairs placed either side ready for guests to the small woodland wedding. The wooden arch dressed with a mixture of dried and fresh blooms acted as the backdrop to the woodland ceremony led by celebrant Jennifer Patrice. Corlia Creations created a welcome sign with burnt orange to welcome their guests, as well as a lovely quote piece, great for a photo opportunity and displayed on a wooden artists easel.

For the dining area, we used scattered brass bud vases, candlesticks and bowls, with pottery bottles on a handmade reclaimed wood trestle table with folding wooden chairs. Vintage brass cutlery was paired with rustic stoneware crockery; the terracotta tones tying into the earthy burnt orange colour scheme. A pair of Rivendor Creations handmade recycled macrame chair tie-backs added to the boho flair of the shoot. Another layer of texture was added with a Mia Sylvia ivory table runner. All of these elements created a beautifully styled table scape, but one that was approachable, relaxed and earthy, perfect for a laid-back couple who love nature.

Amy’s low bamboo seating area complete with picnic table, rugs, cushions and ottomans was setup under the tree canopy and framed with more draped linens to create a cosy chill-out area, a great escape for a few moments of reflection for the couple or somewhere to relax and chat with their guests.

Sarah, Heart and Soul Cakes, created an understated ivory two-tier cake finished with a few dried ‘bunny tails’. The cake looked perfectly at home in the long grasses of the Orchard.

Sharmila Joy designed and made a full stationery suite for the shoot. She used ivory, beige and brown paper with muted floral illustrations that mirrored C Taylor’s Floristry’s creations. Calligraphy and wax seals added to the boho, rustic charm.

Our florist, Charmaine used an inspiring mixture of fresh and dried flowers and foliage to create a wonderfully textured bohemian effect. Fresh florals including ‘Golden Vuvuzela’ and ‘Miss Piggy’ roses, ‘Azore’ spray roses, peach carnations, apricot lisianthus and a mix of foliages including Soft Ruscus, Eucalyptus gunnii and Eucalyptus nicholii were used. These were accompanied by a wonderful array of dried materials including pampas grass, palms, palm spears, lagurus (or bunny tails as they are more lovingly known), bleached ruscus, protea, poppy seed heads and nigella seed heads. Charmaine’s unstructured bouquets were paired with Mia’s ethically hand dyed trailing ribbons and this combination added to the boho rustic, wild and free feel of the shoot. A large installation accented Amys reclaimed wooden triangle arch used for the ceremony backdrop and single stems in bud vases were scattered across the dining table.

We hope that couples who are looking for a free-spirited, relaxed and intimate wedding can look at this shoot and take inspiration from it; look to their surroundings for inspiration on colour themes and textures to create a truly cosy, layered, boho woodland style wedding.
