The Wilderness Wedding Venue sits in a quiet green valley in East Kent, surrounded by open countryside and wide skies. It’s part of a long-term rewilding project and offers complete privacy, with nothing but the sound of birds and the warmth of the sun setting across the fields. There’s a sense of calm and space here that makes it feel like a world apart.
There are two striking ceremony spaces to choose from, both deeply connected to the natural surroundings.
Each setting feels personal and connected to nature, creating an atmosphere that’s both relaxed and memorable.
The Wilderness creates a reception experience that feels organic and unforced, where people naturally gather, talk, and celebrate. Guests often find themselves around the giant fire pit, sharing stories and laughter late into the evening, while live music drifts from the Tree House Stage above.
A fallen oak lies nearby, beautiful in its stillness and often the backdrop for photos or quiet moments. Across a small footbridge, there are hidden spots to explore, and a swing seat that invites a pause between the dancing and the chatter.
Even the practical touches are handled with care. The tabernacle bathrooms are designed to be both comfortable and characterful, blending seamlessly into the setting.
Everything here works together to make the celebration feel effortless and memorable, from the way the spaces flow to how nature becomes part of the day itself.
There’s on-site glamping for those who want to stay close to the celebration, with bell tents and a shepherd’s hut offering a mix of comfort and adventure. Each space is thoughtfully furnished with wooden beds, crisp linens, and soft throws.
Guests can expect:
It’s an easy and enjoyable way to stay overnight, with just the right amount of luxury to make it special.
Couples can choose from a selection of trusted caterers who offer everything from relaxed BBQs and street food to feasting platters and formal dining.
The Wilderness has been part of a rewilding and regeneration project for nearly thirty years. It’s powered by a deep respect for the land and a commitment to living lightly within it.
Solar panels provide energy for the Boat House, wildflower meadows attract pollinators, and reclaimed materials are used throughout the site. Structures like the Naked Tipi, Champagne Shack, Tin Chapel, and Tree House were all built from salvaged wood and metal on the farm itself.
You’ll see and hear the results of this approach everywhere, from birdsong to butterflies, proof that nature is thriving alongside the celebrations.
The venue is situated just outside Canterbury, offering easy access to the city’s cathedral, museums, and vibrant food scene. The surrounding countryside is ideal for walks, vineyard tours, or day trips to the coast. Whitstable and Ramsgate are both easily accessible.
For guests staying nearby, there’s a choice of small hotels, inns, and B&Bs in the local area.
The Wilderness is around an hour by train from London, or roughly 60 miles by car. It’s also straightforward to reach from Europe via the Channel Tunnel.
We are so glad we found somewhere we really connected with. We love everything about The Wilderness.

It’s hard to put into words our appreciation and love for the wilderness! what an amazing wedding we had! The whole team gave us a wedding that went well and truly beyond our expectations!
The venue looked beautiful, the team were exceptional and they could not have done enough for us, not just for me and Rob but for all the guests. We had comments from guests all night about how brilliant the venue was and how accommodating and organised the staff were. Everything ran like clockwork. We can’t fault them at all. The only disappointment was that we can’t do the same every weekend.
Thank you so so much!

I know this sounds cheesy to say, but it was absolutely amazing. Thank you for looking after us and making our day so special. The sunsets were amazing and everything about The Wilderness was so relaxed but beautiful.

We attended our son’s wedding at the Wilderness a couple of weeks ago. We came from overseas and, therefore not involved in the planning of the couple’s big day. So on the day, we were pleasantly surprised how fabulous the wedding was, the venue, staff, photographer and celebrant exceeded our expectations.
The venue is nestled in the serene Kent countryside, offering rustic charm and natural beauty – Britain at its best!
The whole day was fabulous. So much fun, and everything went smoothly.
All members of the Wilderness team were absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond to ensure an incredible experience was had by all. So friendly, funny and attentive, a big shoutout to Lizzy who (bless her) went out of her way and extended her working day to ensure that the celebrations continued off Wilderness property by delivering forgotten DJ cables. Thank you!

My husband and I had our wedding at The Wilderness on August 6th 2021. We had the most amazing day. The staff were all fabulous and everything ran beautifully. The venue itself is stunning and has the best sunsets. We wouldn’t change a single thing. Thank you to all the wilderness team!

Please can we do it all over again? It went too fast. We are still in our post-wedding bubble.

We had the best day and it exceeded our expectations. Thank you so much Team Wilderness.

Lizzy and her team made us feel like family. We didn’t want to leave.

Wow. Where to begin? Me and my husband got married at the Wilderness in July this year. Everything from the communication leading up to the big day, to the little touches throughout were incredible.
Big thanks to Elizabeth, Jess, Emily and Anna who were all involved in making our day run as smoothly as possible. All the staff during the day were extremely professional and friendly and kept the drinks flowing all night!
All our guests said it was the best wedding they’d ever been to and has redefined modern weddings for them now.
Thank you all so much for giving us the most dreamy day.

Where do I even begin?
From the moment we found The Wilderness, we knew it was special, but nothing could have prepared us for just how incredible it would be.
Jess, Lizzie, and the entire team didn’t just help us plan a wedding, they became part of our journey. From day one, they were warm, thoughtful, and completely invested in making sure our day was everything we dreamed of and more.
Planning a wedding is emotional at the best of times, but losing my dad just a month before our big day added a depth of grief that I was still trying to navigate. The way Jess and Lizzie held space for that, with so much compassion and genuine care, meant the world. They didn’t just support me logistically; they held my hand through it all. They gave me time, kindness, empathy, and at the end of the night, after all the laughter and tears, a huge hug that I’ll never forget.
The day itself ran like absolute clockwork. The organisation was flawless, every detail thoughtfully considered, every transition smooth, and every guest made to feel welcome and looked after. The venue was magical, full of character, warmth, and wild beauty, but what truly made it unforgettable was the team behind it.
I can say with absolute confidence that it was worth every single penny. I wouldn’t change a thing. Not one detail. The memories we’ve made, the people we shared it with, and the way we felt from start to finish, it was all priceless.
To anyone considering The Wilderness for their wedding: book it. You will be in the safest, most caring hands. This isn’t just a venue. It’s a team of incredible people who genuinely care, who pour their hearts into your day, and who will make it as special and seamless as it deserves to be.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You made magic, and I’ll be forever grateful.
Married June 2025
Thank you. It really was the best day of our lives. The scenery is spectacular and the venue was surreal at night time.
Married September 2023
We had our wedding at Wilderness Weddings in August 2022, and it was the most wonderful day and venue we could have dreamed of. The venue and venue management were so incredibly helpful; from doing video tours of the site when we were in the venue selection process, to multiple in person meetings and walkthroughs once we had chosen Wilderness Weddings for our special day. Their suppliers were all incredible and helped to make the day perfect – from the caterer “Olivia – Just One Cook” to “Hire Love” who made all the various spaces look incredible, the on-site glamping offering and the event staff on the day – everyone was absolutely fabulous. In our wildest dreams, we couldn’t have imagined just how wonderful the whole day would be, and we will never forget our wedding day at Wilderness Weddings. Tim & Lydia x

Lizzie and the team are awesome. Nothing was too much trouble and the day went so smoothly. The ceremony was epic and we were blown away. The food, the drinks, and music were out of this world.
Married May 2023
From start to finish, the Wilderness was incredible. From the pre-wedding meetings and viewings, email communication, final wedding planning meeting, wine tasting, and then into the week of and the wedding day itself, there was nothing to complain about. The venue staff were helpful every step of the way and went above and beyond in so many different ways. We wanted a “different” wedding than your standard, and the venue was so supportive and helped provide ideas and suggestions along the way, too.
We had a slight issue (our fault) with a supplier booking, and the venue went above and beyond to fix it as best as they could on their side, when it wasn’t even their fault. Special shout out to Lizzy, who drove and hand-delivered post-wedding at midnight some cables we left at the venue that were required for us to do the after party.
The location is stunning, the team organised and communicative, and on the day itself, it felt like we could just enjoy the day while not worrying about whether we were running on schedule or if any issues were happening.
Overall, it was truly magical and the best day of our lives, and our guests were all raving about the venue and how amazing everything was.
10/10, no notes.

We can’t thank you enough.
Married May 2025
We got married at The Wilderness in May and we had the most incredible day that was everything we dreamed of and more.
The Wilderness is a magical space, completely immersed in nature and showcasing the very best of the Kent countryside that we love so much. Once we looked at The Wilderness we knew we didn’t want to get married anywhere else and we are so glad we found it!
We loved having the ceremony in the boathouse on the lake which was so atmospheric, and then wandering across the meadow to what felt like our own secret woodland glade to celebrate into the night. Afterwards, glamping with our closest friends and waking up together the morning after was very special.
The team are amazing; we cannot fault anything in the run-up to the day and on the day itself – they thought of absolutely everything!
A huge thank you to Jessica (‘JLO’), Dawn, Emilie and Lizzie on the day, to Remy for all your help with set-up, Anna and Jess for all the communications and help with planning, and Izzy for organising the glamping.
They are complete professionals and made sure everything went seamlessly, as well as all being lovely, friendly people.
When speaking to friends and family afterwards I realised that they had done even more on the day than we had realised (bringing around blankets just before the ceremony as they noticed some guests were chilly, driving my parents in the golf buggy to meet their lost taxi, amongst many others!) – just so attentive and on it!
Because everyone was so brilliant, we were able to truly be present and totally enjoy the best day of our lives without worrying about anything. We are so grateful to you all, thank you so much!
If you are engaged I urge you to take a look at the Wilderness and meet the team, it will be the best decision you make!
