If you are looking for an exquisite venue in an exceptionally stunning part of the UK, then you are perfectly matched to Tissington Hall.
Tissington Hall is the prominent feature of the quintessential Derbyshire village of Tissington. A rural, unspoilt beauty spot – it is peppered with lime trees, pretty cottages, a duck pond, and five wells.
Many couples choose Tissington Hall to host their wedding because of their love of the village and its stunning surroundings. A beautiful mix of enchanting history – with a twist of modern refinement – originally built by Francis FitzHerbert, this historical home has been in the FitzHerbert family for over 400 years. They feel privileged to share it with you on your wedding day.
Your Ceremony
The Main Hall is licenced to hold civil marriages and partnerships (90), as is the East Drawing Room (50), which overlooks the beautiful parkland. Alternatively, if sunny skies allow, you can hold your service on their exquisite Terrace Arcade (120).
If you would like a religious wedding ceremony, the Grade II listed church of St Mary’s is a stone’s throw away from Tissington Hall. This 12th-century place of worship is simply delightful – and steeped in fascinating Norman history. After your church service, it is just a five-minute stroll back to Tissington Hall to celebrate your special day.
Marquee Weddings
Whether you hold your ceremony here or across the parkland at St Mary’s, this venue offers the perfect reception locations. From April to October, the custom semi-permanent marquee on site has been specifically designed to house a fabulous celebration in the gardens. The Arboretum Pavilion marquee offers gorgeous panoramic views across the parkland. It is finished to the highest standard with a stunning crystal chandelier and starlit ceiling, which produce a relaxed, romantic atmosphere.
The Pavilion can accommodate up to 150 guests for Wedding Breakfast, and they have two exclusive caterers. Upper Crust Caterers and The Red Olive create bespoke menus with outstanding food with ingredients of the highest standard.
Intimate Weddings
For more intimate weddings over the winter months, they are delighted to introduce their recently renovated 18th-century Carriage House, which has been sympathetically restored, retaining many of its original features. They can accommodate up to 60 people for your wedding breakfast and reception.
Their welcoming, professional team has over 15 years of experience planning and hosting weddings and will use this expertise to ensure your day is perfect.
A stunning venue with fantastic photo opportunities, Tissington Hall is a perfect location for a memorable day.
Tissington Hall is an absolutely gorgeous wedding venue, and the team is amazing. Lady Fiona showed us around on our first tour, and we fell in love with it straight away. We wanted an intimate celebration with our dogs involved, and Tissington Hall and its beautiful gardens were perfect. We were very lucky to get a wedding date for the same year.
We only had a short amount of time to plan, but our wedding coordinator, Cat, and the team went absolutely above and beyond for us. Everything was perfect on the day, and we all felt so relaxed.
It really was a fairytale wedding venue.

The perfect wedding venue
There aren’t enough words to describe how perfect Tissington Hall is. All my guests commented on how stunning Tissington Hall is, from the gardens to the hall to the marquee (and even the toilets!). Everything was perfect- the whole team couldn’t do enough for us during the whole planning process, as well as on our wedding day. All communication leading up to the day was seamless. Any questions, queries or worries I had were answered quickly, putting my mind at ease leading up to the big day. All the staff (bartenders, security guards and front of house) are so professional and friendly and so good at what they do, meaning the whole day runs so smoothly, which is exactly what you need on your wedding day. Special thanks to Gabi, who works so hard and was there for us from the moment we arrived until we went to bed, checking we were ok and if she could do or get anything for us, Lady Fiona and Sir Richard for allowing us to use their home for our wedding day and Meg who was the wedding coordinator on the day.
The day before our wedding, we arrived to set up, and once again, the team could not do enough for us. We were able to take all of our dresses and suits for the whole wedding party, which were put in the relevant rooms for getting ready the next day and get everything just how we wanted (although they would have done this for us, it was also nice to have the freedom to sort this ourselves).
An extra special part for us was having the church ceremony, and the timings for this and our band (who escorted us back to the hall) were coordinated perfectly. The walk to and from the church was a really special part of our day.
The suppliers they recommended were perfect and complemented the venue brilliantly.
From the very first contact with Lady Fiona and the team, I knew Tissington was the venue for us, and it didn’t disappoint. Tissington is a stunning, unique venue where you have the privilege of using the hall, marque and grounds for your special day. Our photos are stunning, and that is all down to the team at Tissington making the hall and grounds so beautiful and pristine.
It was the best day of our lives! Book Tissington Hall for your wedding. You will not be disappointed.
Married August 2023
My new husband and I cannot recommend Tissington Hall highly enough! Our experience from our first viewing of the hall in March 2020 to our wedding in August 2021 was outstanding. The hall itself is beautiful and whilst being a wedding venue the fact that it is still a family home shines through, making it all the more special. Lady Fiona, Sir Richard and all the Tissington team made us feel welcome guests, before, during and after our wedding.
We had numerous meetings with Fiona over Zoom, WhatsApp and via phone calls. We were planning our wedding during the uncertainty of Covid and she reassured us at every turn that if it was in her power she would get us married in 2021! The flexibility and kindness that was shown to us was remarkable during a very trying time. Fortunately we only had to move our wedding date once but this was made as easy on us as possible and we are incredibly thankful that this was the case.
The day itself was perfect in every way. The Hall where our wedding ceremony was held looked beautiful and Caroline our wedding co-ordinator took care of all of our needs, whisking us away for a quick 5 minutes of ‘alone time’, after the ceremony and providing us with glass after glass of Prosecco before organising our confetti shot!
The grounds looked stunning for our drinks reception and photo opportunities and the marquee was full of laughter and twinkled from the moment we stepped in for our wedding breakfast and throughout our evening reception, to the end of our night. Sir Richard was a particular favourite with our friends as he escorted them via torchlight to their carriages at the end of the evening!
My husband and I spent a relaxed night in the sumptuous bridal suite; again everything you could possibly think of was provided! The following morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Herbert’s tea rooms and collected our belongings from the marquee. Sir Richard and Lady Fiona wished us well as we left and we came away with huge smiles after our fantastic day. We would recommend Tissington as a wedding venue to any couple.
The best wedding venue
Wow! Tissington is a stunning venue to get married; we had the most perfect day. The team went above and beyond to make our day run so smoothly from start to finish and make us feel special.
The whole venue is breathtaking; we had so many compliments from our guests.

Best day of our lives!
We got married in September at Tissington after getting engaged 2 years prior. From the beginning, Fiona and Sir Richard were so welcoming, personally showing us around the place and treating us like family. The wedding planner Cat was amazing, so friendly and lovely, she went out of way to make our day special and nothing was too much to ask. They allowed us to bring our dog to the wedding and adapted to everything we needed, having our 5-week-old baby with us. The staff were great. The grounds were beautiful. Tissington Village is a lovely place for guests to explore before and after the wedding. I would definitely recommend getting married at Tissington!

Wow! The most incredible venue.
From the moment we viewed Tissington Hall with Lady Fiona, we knew it was the one. There was just something about this venue where it didn’t seem as if we were “just another wedding”. The whole process was just incredible and they really did help bring our vision to life. Cat and Gabby were absolutely amazing. I think Gabby was even sewing some trousers for us at one point! We simply cannot thank them enough. They couldn’t have done enough for us. It was as if they were our friends on the day rather than coordinators. We couldn’t have wished for anything more (other than wishing we could do it all again), the most perfect venue.
Married July 2023
We feel so lucky to have got married at the new Carriage House at Tissington Hall. It was completely perfect… Lady Fiona and everyone involved on our wedding day were amazing and tried so hard to ensure we had a magical day, nothing was too much trouble and Fiona was always there when we needed anything! Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.
Dave and I just want to send our sincerest thanks for an absolutely flawless, drop dead gorgeous wedding day. Your thoughtfulness, generosity and attention to detail are unparalleled and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day on your stunning property. Tissington truly is a magical (cliche word but I am struggling to find another!) part of beautiful England!
I can’t stop smiling I am so happy and you are so much a part of that! We’ve had so many of our guests rave about the day and my mother especially was stunned by her always frozen peroni glass! We will be back to visit and can’t wait to see you again soon.
An incredibly and exceptionally off-the-chart wedding venue. Thank you. We have much gratitude.
Great location, ambience, and staff responsiveness. Could not have picked a better venue from start to finish.
What our words do not express are magnificently shown in the many, many photos and videos of our special day.
Thank you Tissington Hall.

Personal, professional and perfect
Tissington Hall was simply the best place to get married. It’s not only the venue that makes this place so special but the people behind the scenes. The venue comes with a wedding planner, Cat, who is so patient and fantastic, literally thinks of everything and is always two steps ahead! Absolutely everyone at Tissington was incredible, especially Fiona, who reassured me all the way along. Planning a wedding a year out after having a baby and a house move is pretty stressful and I couldn’t have done it without the team at Tissington.

A wonderful wedding experience!
The whole team at Tissington Hall made our wedding experience so special.
Cat and Gabi, in particular, were amazing – nothing was too much effort for them, and they ensured that the only thing we had to do on the day was to enjoy ourselves.
The venue is absolutely stunning both inside and out, which is wonderful for the day but also for the photographs as there is no shortage of stunning backdrop!
Overall a wonderful experience, thank you.
Married August 2023
Magical, excellent, amazing.
Where to start? From the first meeting with Cat (wedding planner), we knew this was the right place and the right people who would/did do everything we wanted and more. The house and ground are amazing, and we got some really good photos around the grounds. Nothing was too much trouble for the team, and they were on hand whenever anyone needed it.
The Tissington team really did make our day something to remember, and I can honestly say we have made some lifelong friends with the team. I know it’s a job, but even when the day is over, the kindness and friendship goes on. We have visited on a few occasions, and it’s like visiting friends with open arms. We get the feeling the team actually don’t class it as a job but for the love of making people happy, and my gosh, they don’t half do a good job of doing just that.
The amount of comments from our guests about the venue and the people who looked after every single person at our wedding was amazing. I suppose it’s normal to worry that something won’t go to plan, but all of our worries were met with positivity from the team, and it really did make us feel special.
We had a mixture of age groups, and even the very young were asked if they were ok and if they would like anything from the staff. This is the reason we still like to visit, because the kids want to go and see Cat, Gabbie and the team. Tissington is not just a place for one special day. Its a place that can be visited at any time and is like visiting friends with open arms.
Married July 2023
After planning our wedding for the summer of 2020 and after the unfortunate events of COVID we were left without a venue or date after the collapse of our previous wedding venue. Upon the recommendation of our wedding photographer, we were then introduced to Lady Fiona Fitzherbert who was beyond amazing. Before we knew it, we had a date pencilled in for 2021, a meeting scheduled for when we could visit after the first initial lockdown and when we finally got to visit the venue, we just fell in love instantly and knew this was meant to be.
Both Lady Fiona and Sir Richard Fitzherbert were brilliant in their communication, both with multiple phone calls or Facetime tours of the venue and we were always made to feel very special and looked after, which after our disappointment with our previous venue was extremely reassuring. The venue itself and surrounding village is simply magical, from the stunning grounds and beautiful architecture. We decided to opt to get married at St Mary’s church in Tissington which is only a short walk opposite the venue, which was lovely on the day of the wedding as we got some lovely photos of the procession walking from church to venue and was hassle free in terms of guest transport.
The reverend of St Mary’s is Reverend Carolyn McDonald who, like Lady Fiona, was amazing from day one of meeting her on the church Zooms to meeting in person, and made the whole experience and planning so simple. With lockdown ending and restrictions lifting, we were introduced to Caroline who would be supporting Lady Fiona as our wedding co-ordinator. I think everyone needs a Caroline in their life, she is a burst of energy and joy and made the run up to the big day seamless.
As for our wedding day, it was simply magical from start to finish and the memories will live with us forever. Tissington Hall, church and village will now hold a very special place in our hearts and we feel extremely lucky that we were able to have our wedding here. We are extremely grateful to Lady Fiona, Sir Richard, Reverend Carolyn McDonald, Caroline and Upper Crust Catering for helping us organise and cater such an amazing day.
It was such an honour to be married on these beautiful grounds, thank you again Lady Fiona and Sir Richard for inviting us to use your wonderful home for our special day.
A big thank you for making my wedding dreams come true. We had the most magical day and we are so grateful for everything you did for us to make it our perfect day. Tissington will forever be our special place – thank you!
Our dream wedding!
We got married at Tissington Hall in September 2023. From start to finish, the team was a dream! We absolutely loved the venue when we went around (even one cold winter day!) and booked it not long after. We were so impressed by Fiona, Cat, Gabby and the team. They really went above and beyond in all aspects of planning and on the day itself. They put their hearts and souls into it, and you could tell they were very passionate about what they were doing! The little touches had been thought of, which I’m sure you wouldn’t get anywhere else. The venue is stunning as are the pavilion and gardens. We were lucky enough to get married outside, which was a dream. I would recommended the team and the venue to everyone, we had the best day with memories which will last a life time, thank you Tissington!

Where do we begin. Thank you for letting us use your beautiful home and land for our perfect wedding day. From the beginning we felt at home at the hall and were always made to feel welcome. Louise, you are fantastic – Thank you for all the organisation and making sure the day ran so well, we will be back to visit in the future and hope to see you all when we do.
Well, Amy and Tom are now married and Jim and I are slowing ‘recovering’ from what was an absolutely fabulous day. After months of struggling with the restrictions of Covid, in the end the day they wanted finally happened! We would like to thank you, and your staff, for the tremendous help and support you provided during such a difficult and stressful time but mainly giving them such a perfect day in every way!
Every one of our guests have said what a perfect day it was from start to finish, many saying it was the best wedding they’d ever been to – the Hall, gardens and marquee looked fantastic, the food and staff were excellent and I’m sure there will be some incredible photographs.
Again, many many thanks for making sure Amy and Tom had a wonderful day – we wish you continued success with future weddings – Tissington Hall is the perfect setting for such an important and special day.
Thank you so much for making Saturday such a fabulous day for Kat and Sam, you and Sascha certainly made Kat’s dreams come true. She has had so many messages from guests saying what a magical venue Tissington is, and how impressed they were with how everything went from the minute they arrived to going home, most of which is down to you, Sir Richard and your team. Thank you for making us all feel so welcome in your home and for keeping so well informed through all the frustrations of the last year.
Thank you so much again for everything you did to make our wedding so special. From looking after Sarah in the morning, to umbrellas sheltering us from the rain, to helping us to get the stains out of the dress and everything else. It was a day we will never forget. We are so glad we chose Tissington. We have had so many compliments on the quality of service, free flowing drinks and amazing food. Thank you all so much.
