Tucked away in 30 acres of woodland and parkland, Spirit Lake is a hidden gem in the heart of the Surrey Hills. With two sparkling lakes, a walled garden, and peaceful woodland paths, it’s a magical setting for an outdoor celebration.
This is your day, your way. Whether your style is boho, festival, vintage, or glam, Spirit Lake is a flexible, blank canvas where you can create the wedding vibe that feels just right.
The venue is totally private, surrounded by trees, water, and wildlife. Look out for deer, ducks, rabbits, and geese. Guests can arrive via a pretty woodland walk through Bluebell Wood or take the direct path from the car park. You can even offer tractor and trailer rides!
There’s no corkage fee and no required suppliers, giving you full freedom to plan your day. On-the-day coordination is also available if you’d like a helping hand.
The site is flat and accessible, and disabled toilet facilities can be hired. You’ll also have secure on-site parking, mains water and power, with optional extras like shower facilities and a two-bedroom apartment (minimum two-night stay).
You are free to hold a blessing and choose any part of the grounds at Spirit Lake as your natural backdrop. You can design the ceremony area exactly as you envision, whether that’s simple seating facing one of the lakes, a circle arrangement under the tree or in the walled garden. Some bridal parties even take a trip in the vintage tractor’s trailer through the woodland to the ceremony space.
There are numerous celebrants in the area, or consider having a friend or family member lead this for you. The open-air setting creates a relaxed atmosphere that guests love, allowing you to incorporate natural elements into your ceremony.
The marriage would not be licensed, as it is not currently possible to get legally married outdoors in England.
Choose your favourite spot at Spirit Lake for your drinks reception; the charming walled garden is always a favourite. Guests can mingle comfortably while caterers circulate with canapés and drinks. For a more laid-back vibe, you might prefer a casual nibbles table and a self-serve drinks station. Garden and fairground-style games add extra fun, and acoustic entertainment or playlist music can beautifully set the atmosphere. You get to decide the vibe.
For your wedding breakfast, pick your perfect structure; a tipi, an elegant sailcloth marquee, or a traditional pole tent are the most popular options. Choose the ideal size for your guest numbers, then enjoy the best bit: bringing your vision to life with your chosen styling!
Several fantastic bell tent suppliers in the area can create a bell tent village for your guests, adding a wonderful sense of fun to your celebration. These tents are typically set up along the lakeside, providing a beautiful backdrop for your wedding photos. Extend the celebrations into the following morning with a relaxed breakfast, giving you more precious time with your friends and loved ones.
On-site, you’ll find a two-bedroom annexe that’s perfect for getting ready in the morning, serving as a wedding suite, or offering comfortable accommodation for your parents while you enjoy the glamping experience.

Whether you’re dreaming of a lavish three-course dinner, creative food trucks serving global street food, a relaxed family-style BBQ, or elegant sharing platters, the choice is entirely yours. Beare Green is a pretty village nestled in the picturesque Surrey countryside. It offers a lovely selection of local accommodation, including quaint country inns, cosy bed-and-breakfasts, and several boutique guesthouses and Airbnb’s nearby.
Getting to Spirit Lake is easy, with direct trains from Ockley, Holmwood, and Dorking stations that connect to London and nearby towns, as well as easy access by road via the A29.
