An exclusive haven near Cambridge, just three miles from the vibrant city, Histon Manor sits on 11 acres of private grounds and provides an idyllic dry-hire venue for wedding receptions. The draw of this venue lies in its exclusivity, allowing only five weddings per year. Surrounded by trees, the grounds offer a secluded, private setting, ensuring an intimate, personal celebration.
At Histon Manor, ceremonies are relaxed, elegant and thoughtfully positioned within the grounds. Smaller, more intimate weddings can take place beneath the front portico, with chairs gently fanning out along the driveway, or on the steps leading up to the formal gardens for a more structured setting. For those drawn to something softer, the front lawn offers an open, natural feel, with the house or majestic trees providing a quiet, impressive backdrop. As the manor is not licensed for legal ceremonies, all ceremonies are celebrant-led, allowing for a more personal and flexible approach.
For receptions, the grounds offer a natural flow between different spaces, keeping guests together. Drinks can be served on the front lawn beneath a stretch tent or in the formal gardens around the octagonal pond, with the formal topiary gardens creating an outdoor ‘room’. For dinner and dancing at larger weddings, the main marquee is usually set on the former tennis court lawn, which is surrounded by beautiful trees and a meadow, slightly removed from the house, thus keeping it a new reveal after reception drinks. For smaller celebrations of up to 120 guests, the front lawn can also host the main marquee with everything centred around the house.
Accommodation is not offered within the manor as part of the dry hire, aside from the use of selected rooms for bridal or groom preparation on the day. The venue works closely with a number of local hotels, and the neighbouring farm estate offers four luxury double rooms within a newly built courtyard development, allowing close family to stay on site just a short two-minute walk away. Cambridge also offers a wide range of hotels, all within a 10-minute taxi ride.
Food and drink at Histon Manor are designed to be flexible and straightforward. There is no corkage; instead, they ask for a small donation to their chosen charity. They can recommend a trusted group of caterers familiar with the house and grounds, but are equally happy to consider new suppliers you may wish to bring, allowing you to shape the day in a way that suits you.
At Histon Manor, charitable giving is a core part of how the venue operates. The decision to dedicate 10% of every booking to charitable causes comes directly from the owners and reflects a long-standing belief that each event should create value beyond the day itself.
This commitment was formally introduced in 2026 as the 10% Giving Ethos, building on fundraising activity since 2019, which has raised over £38,000 for carefully selected charities. The aim is simple: to ensure every celebration, shoot or event held at the Manor contributes to something wider.
Each year, a single Charity of the Year is chosen following a considered review process, ensuring it is a strong, well-run organisation where funds make a clear and measurable impact. Previous beneficiaries have included EACH (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices) and Break Charity, with the Cambridge Acorn Project selected for 2026.
Discreetly set on the edge of Histon village, Histon Manor feels quietly removed while remaining highly accessible. Just 10 minutes from Cambridge and close to direct rail links into London, it offers the rare combination of privacy and convenience. The house itself has evolved over time, with its origins in a traditional manor setting, later adapted to sit within generous gardens and mature grounds that now frame the property. It retains a strong sense of place, with the village, orchards and wider Cambridgeshire landscape still very much part of its character.
The Manor is exceptionally well-connected. Cambridge North and Cambridge stations provide direct rail links to London, with fast services to King’s Cross taking only 50 minutes. The A14 and M11 are both within easy reach, making arrivals by car straightforward from across the region and beyond. Local taxi services are readily available, and for guests travelling further afield, Stansted Airport is around 45 minutes away.
We are still reliving every moment of the day—such a joy! Histon Manor was the perfect venue for the reception—simply beautiful. We had an absolutely wonderful day, and Histon Manor provided a stunning backdrop.

It was the most unforgettable day, and we still can’t believe how perfectly everything came together. The gardens and marquee were even more beautiful than we could’ve imagined. A huge thank you to you too, Katherine. We’re so grateful to have met you on that crisp Tuesday morning in January, and you’ve been endlessly supportive, accommodating, and all-round lovely the entire time. We made sure our guests raised a cheer to you during our speeches!

We had an unforgettable wedding reception at Histon Manor. The grounds offered a beautiful and flexible space, and Katherine was incredibly supportive. Her experience and flexibility ensured that everything was perfectly positioned, creating a true summer wonderland for our guests. The bridal party’s use of the Manor’s rooms to get ready was very elegant and relaxing, and the balcony provided a fab setting for a group photo. Histon Manor surpassed all our expectations!

Our weddings are bespoke, so we do not have a pre-erected marquee on the grounds. We work with various suppliers who offer tailored marquees ranging from stretch and bell tents to more traditional marquees. The largest marquee we can support seats up to 250 guests, including room for a dance floor and a catering tent.
We have couples who marry in their University of Cambridge college, their local church or at a local registry office and then come to us for the party of their dreams. We also have couples who marry in advance and then host a blessing ceremony on the grounds before all their guests.
We do not currently offer this, but Cambridge provides a wide range of accommodation and is only a short taxi ride away. Two minutes' walk away is a new luxury courtyard development in the estate next door, offering four double rooms for a family, close to the venue.
It's a beautiful feeling having your wedding venue perfectly created by you. Marquee weddings look so stylish and give you the freedom to design your perfect day. But yes, there is more to organise, but maybe less than you think. Once the basics are chosen and booked, such as the marquee, the furniture for the marquee, power, and WCs, you are totally in control and back to the fun part of choosing table decorations, flowers, and caterers. We have an extensive range of contacts and work with six leading UK wedding planners who know our venue well. They can support your planning journey to remove stress and add creativity... and that little bit of magic.
Children love the freedom of our venue, as there is so much to explore. However, please note we have several water features, including a pond and moat, so an adult must accompany children. Some couples consider booking a children's entertainer who can keep an eye on little ones and provide them with some additional entertainment to allow parents to relax.
