The Setting
Although located just 10 minutes from Exeter, Harefield Barn feels like a world away. Situated on a family farm in the beautiful Devon countryside, this carefully designed venue has flexibility and personal service at its heart.
Making the most of its elevated position, Harefield Barn is flooded with light from the huge expanse of windows, providing fabulous far-reaching views over Devon’s rolling hills. The terrace gives way to lawned areas, is excellent for garden games and children’s play, and is flanked by a wildflower meadow and cornfield with cider orchards nearby, making it perfect for some special photos.
Exeter St Davids station is only 10 minutes away by taxi, as is Crediton. They also have great parking and the ability to leave cars overnight, so your guests don’t have to worry about toasting your happiness! There is good access to mini-buses, too.
The Vibe
Harefield Barn has a fresh, modern appearance but has plenty of character features, such as stunning scissor beams in the hall and a cosy wood-burning stove in the bar. Once described as ‘barn chic’, the decoration is kept to a minimum, so couples can use it as a blank canvas to create their own style of event should they wish. Underfloor heating throughout makes it perfect, whatever the weather, and on a lovely day, bifold doors open onto the terrace from both the bar and main hall, making it a truly inside/outside venue.
Versatility is key, with their licence allowing for ceremonies anywhere on site from 2 to 200 (standing) guests. Five beautiful village churches are within three miles, so Harefield Barn also makes the perfect spot for a fabulous rustic reception.
This is a family business, and they want to keep it that way! To maintain the personal nature of what they offer, they have chosen to limit the number of weddings they host each year so the team can give each one the attention it deserves. Therefore, you have exclusive use of Harefield Barn for two full days, giving you time to relax and enjoy the experience of a lifetime. However, they try to be flexible and inclusive, so you can always ask for other options.
There is no accommodation on site, but there are plenty of wonderful B&Bs, cottages and hotels within easy reach, and you can camp if you wish. A great party house and a beautiful cottage complex are nearby, perfect for a weekend-long family gathering.
Their prices are kept simple to help you with your planning, so they include many little extras that you may (or may not) choose for your day:

Although they are mainly considered a ‘dry hire’ venue, the team are there to help you every step of the way and would be delighted to recommend a fabulous wedding planner who could offer you a full planning service.
They will certainly have a staff member on-site from when you arrive until your last guest leaves (with additional help to move furniture, etc, if required). Again, flexibility is key, so if you need a particular service plan, please don’t hesitate to ask.
