Setting
Located just ten minutes from Exeter, Harefield Barn is a serene escape in the heart of the Devon countryside. Their carefully designed venue is not just about flexibility but also about providing a personal service that caters to your unique needs and desires.
Making the most of its elevated position, Harefield Barn is flooded with light from the huge expanse of windows, providing fabulous far-reaching views over Devon’s rolling hills. The terrace gives way to lawned areas, which are excellent for garden games and children’s play. It is flanked by a wildflower meadow and has access to hundreds of acres of farmland, including cornfields and cider orchards nearby, making it perfect for some special photos.
They have plenty of flexible spaces, enabling those creative souls amongst you to let their imaginations fly. With plenty of time to prepare, you can make your ideas come to life.
As a family business, they are committed to maintaining the personal nature of what they offer. To ensure each event receives the attention it deserves, they limit the number of weddings they host each year. This means you have the exclusive use of Harefield Barn for two full days, allowing you to relax and enjoy the experience of a lifetime. The team are always open to other options, as they strive to be flexible and inclusive and are ready to accommodate your unique needs.
If you’re planning a more DIY-style wedding, Harefield Barn can help to organise the essentials in terms of food and drink, leaving you to concentrate on those fabulous finishing touches!
Ceremony
Versatility is key, with their licence allowing for ceremonies anywhere on site from 2 to 200 (standing) guests. Five beautiful village churches are within three miles, so Harefield Barn is the perfect spot for a fabulous rustic reception.
With such stunning views, it comes as no surprise that many couples at Harefield Barn choose an al fresco ceremony. However, with a beautiful dedicated indoor room licensed for up to 100 guests, it doesn’t matter what the English weather throws at you-they have it covered.
Reception
The dramatic light and airy reception room has a fabulous high-beamed ceiling and views to die for. With a stunning glass gable wall and two sets of big bi-fold doors that frame those rolling Devon hills, it’s a beautiful space to relax and enjoy time with family and friends celebrating your special day.
For your wedding breakfast, a long top table for 8-10 and up to 120 more guests can be accommodated at round tables within the Main Hall. There’s also space to invite additional evening guests, up to a total of 200.
Accommodation
No accommodation is available on-site, but there are plenty of local places to stay. As Harefield Barn is just a 10-minute taxi ride from Exeter, the options are endless.
What they do have, however, is a stunning area in which to prepare. The Leveret Suite is bright, sunny, and comfortably furnished, making it the perfect place for the couple and their attendants to spend the morning of the wedding. With a relaxed ‘drawing room’ vibe, it also has all the mod-cons you need, including plenty of well-placed power points for your makeup artists and hair stylists and a fridge for your fizz and snacks, not forgetting the loo and shower.
Food & Drink
Harefield Barn has a selection of preferred caterers. They want to ensure that you receive delicious food and impeccable service, so they ask that you choose from one of those. However, if you have a particular caterer you would like to use, they are happy to consider this in certain circumstances.
Sustainability
Harefield Barn tries hard to be as sustainable as possible. This includes replacing paper towels with solar-powered hand dryers and fabric hand towels, which are washed using local spring water and dried, again using solar power.
They encourage all the suppliers who offer their services to clients using the Barn to use locally sourced and sustainable options where possible.
Local Area
Harefield Barn lies roughly halfway between Exeter and Crediton and is surrounded by several pretty villages-ideal if you would like a traditional Church wedding before your reception!
Many villages and local farms offer holiday lets and bed and breakfast accommodation for you and your guests, so if they don’t live locally, getting married at Harefield Barn provides the perfect opportunity for them to enjoy a break in the beautiful Devon countryside.
Getting There
Harefield Barn’s beautiful location feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere, but it’s actually just a 10-minute taxi ride from Exeter St Davids train station. It’s approached through easy country lanes and has plenty of parking on site.
