Grassfield Hall is an intimate country estate where heritage architecture, sweeping grounds and exclusive use create a setting that feels entirely personal. Every celebration is thoughtfully planned, allowing the day to unfold with privacy and ease. Timeless without feeling formal, the hall balances quiet grandeur with understated elegance, creating an atmosphere that feels calm, welcoming and deeply connected to its surroundings.
Inside, a collection of beautifully proportioned rooms offers a refined backdrop throughout the house. High ceilings, marble flooring and original architectural details bring character and depth, while carefully restored finishes and softer furnishings add warmth. From the impressive entrance hall to more intimate spaces, each room has its own identity while working together as a cohesive whole.
Grassfield Hall hosts humanist and celebrant-led ceremonies within the estate, offering couples the opportunity to exchange vows in a private and personal setting. The hall accommodates ceremonies for up to 50 guests, allowing everyone to gather together in an intimate atmosphere.
For those planning a church wedding, several village churches are just a few minutes’ drive away, making it easy to combine a traditional religious service with an exclusive-use reception at the hall.
Following the ceremony, guests can move straight into the grand hallway, out onto the terrace or into the gardens for drinks and canapés, allowing the celebration to continue without interruption.
Wedding breakfasts take place in the Hanley Room, where the neutral interior provides a versatile backdrop for a variety of celebration styles. The room seats up to 28 guests for a formal meal, while the covered terrace accommodates up to 50 guests for a more relaxed outdoor dining arrangement. Exclusive use and a minimum two-night stay give couples time to settle in, celebrate at an unhurried pace and enjoy the estate with those closest to them.
The estate sleeps up to 17 guests across eight individually designed ensuite bedroom suites. Each room has its own character, with bespoke features and a private bathroom, giving family and friends a comfortable place to stay throughout the celebration.
A minimum two-night stay allows everyone to settle in, spend time together and enjoy the house beyond the wedding day itself.
After saying “Yes” to that important question, I put a plea out to friends for a recommendation for a small wedding venue. Grassfield Hall was suggested, and after our first visit we decided on the spot that it was the perfect choice for what we envisaged. A stunning Georgian restored building, the beautiful Nidderdale countryside, individual and unique rooms, elegance, opulence and most of all Lisa – the powerhouse who was willing to listen, open to ideas, and driven to make her clients dreams aspire into reality. The date was set for Nov 2020.
Fast forward to present day and a Pandemic later – Covid 19 certainly put a spanner in the works for couples not only nationally but blobally. After 3 cancelled dates we finally got our Wedding Day July 2021. During what could’ve been the most stressful time, Lisa worked alongside us to keep everything calm, and with her expertise and guidance all those involved remained co-ordinated in their approach to the final goal – we simply kept moving things forward.
The day itself could not have been more perfect. From start to finish our guests felt welcomed, relaxed and “treated”. We were complimented all day on the atmosphere with friends and family noting that, despite being surrounded with luxury, style and elegance they didn’t feel out of place and it genuinely felt homely. Each and every member of the team worked to give us our dream day and with Lisa’s recommended suppliers it was poetry in motion. We simply can’t praise Grassfield Hall enough. We started as clients and we feel we’ve made friends.
Due to our least favourite C word, Covid, we didn’t think that it would be possible to tie the knot in 2020 as planned. However, that was all in the past when we found a gem of a place called Grassfield Hall in Pateley Bridge. It was perfect. Classy, intimate, and allowed us to celebrate with our nearest and dearest due to the limited numbers that we were allowed. Lisa and her team were fantastic, and managed to give us our wedding day that we will never forget!
Grassfield Hall is one of my favourite wedding venues. It’s perfect for intimate ceremonies. The team are so accommodating and professional, the views are out of this world and the opportunities for styling your wedding are endless. This place oozes style and grandeur with but is perhaps one of the most friendly and homely wedding venues you will ever find. A jewel in the Dales. It’s absolutely ideal for a bespoke, memorable and relaxed humanist ceremony – a perfect combo for a wedding of dreams!
While Grassfield Hall does not have a wedding license, this actually works in your favour. It gives us the freedom to plan your wedding exactly the way you envision it, without any restrictions. We collaborate with exceptional celebrants and are fortunate to have a selection of picturesque churches in the vicinity, offering you a range of beautiful settings for your ceremony.
We have a list of caterers who are all incredibly talented and have different styles. Weddings flow better when the caterer understands the venue and has previously worked alongside our team. We love working with people who, like us, are passionate about the service they provide, so you can ensure that the listed suppliers are all handpicked.
You can change this and most aspects of your wedding to suit your needs; it's your wedding, after all. We encourage our couples to make their wedding unique, and we love to hear unusual ideas.
Our license strictly ends at 11pm for both serving drinks and music. However, the day is long, and by this time, our couples are usually happy for the music to end and for the non-residents to say goodbye. The residents who are staying in the house can then sit back in the lounge and enjoy some relaxing time with their loved ones.
We understand that the early stages of wedding planning can be overwhelming. That's why we're here to help. After booking, we provide you with a comprehensive wedding guide to Grassfield Hall. This guide offers advice, answers to frequently asked questions, a plan to record all details and arrangements, a timeline, and supplier information. We then review this information with you in a meeting before the big day, ensuring that no detail is overlooked and everything is just as you want it.
