Godwick Great Barn is an architectural wonder, an ancient barn with over 400 years of history, seamlessly blending traditional charm with modern touches. This historic landscape, with its ancient church ruins and Lost Village, is a designated ancient monument, offering a unique atmosphere for weddings and celebrations. The vintage tractor, Fergie, provides a distinctive touch as custom wedding transport across these storied grounds.
Godwick offers a choice of ceremony settings, allowing couples to exchange vows either inside the Great Barn or outdoors in the breathtaking Norfolk countryside. The venue’s flexibility ensures that each celebration is tailored to the couple.
You can dine under the twinkling lights of the Great Barn, play traditional garden games during a relaxed drinks reception, take a spin on a tractor made for two, or glamp it up in the surrounding fields!
Relaxed and informal are the magical ingredients for this venue. Godwick prides itself on its friendly and personal service, and the team wants you to have the event of your choice, so they try to have only a few rules! As a bride or groom searching for that perfect venue, you’ll quickly realise that flexibility is important here.
Luxurious accommodation awaits at nearby Godwick Hall, The Old Stables, and the charming Shepherds Huts. The stargazing belle tents, available from May to September, offer a magical experience for those looking to sleep under the stars. Whether seeking a cosy room or a glamping adventure, there are plenty of options for your guests.
Sloped access and full facilities for those with accessibility needs ensure that everyone can enjoy the day in comfort.
Pure Magic
Where do we start about this incredible venue and superb team?
We were completely taken with the Barn and its unique surroundings when we had our first meeting with James and after taking a look around Godwick Hall, the stables and shepherds huts there was no question that we knew this was where we wanted to get married and it did not disappoint.
Every guest who celebrated with us was blown away by how beautiful the venue was. Our family and friends who were able to stay with us and share all the accommodation on site had the most amazing long weekend which was the perfect way to extend the celebrations.
Our event co-ordinator, Megan, couldn’t have been more helpful and supportive throughout the whole process and under Megan’s supervision the day was completely perfect and we felt so lucky it was ours!
We will be recommending Godwick to anyone we can, not just for a wedding but for a special and memorable weekend away and we so hope to be back soon to relive the amazing memories we made.
A huge thank you to the whole Godwick team who made everything so special for us. We couldn’t be more grateful.

Want a stunning countryside wedding? Look no further!
Godwick as a venue was everything we wanted. The barn and scenery were stunning and meant no matter the weather, you were guaranteed a beautiful countryside wedding. The accommodation onsite is also incredible and turned the celebrations into a 2-day affair! The team gave us free rein and supported all the ideas we had to make the wedding really bespoke. They were very responsive, flexible, and went above and beyond. Would highly recommend them to any couple.

Our dream venue
We couldn’t have been any happier with our wedding at Godwick. From the moment we met the team to after the wedding, everything was perfect. They were so helpful, always carrying a ‘can do’ attitude! The venue is so picturesque and perfect for a rustic wedding! They are really flexible with how you want to decorate and even gave us some ideas for styling! They had so many recommendations for vendors, our wedding planner Debbie Lee was an amazing asset to our planning process, she joined in and was so excited to deliver us our perfect day, we can’t thank her enough!!
Godwick is the dream location for a Norfolk wedding and the team are first class!

What a day!
We can’t thank the team at Godwick for hosting our wedding. Nothing was too much of an ask, and everything was handled professionally and efficiently. The venue is just stunning, and the team are super flexible with what suppliers you can use, which is often not the case with many other venues. Accommodation is simply gorgeous and housed all our family. We feel super lucky to have had the experience we had with our family and friends. Wish we could do it all again!

Perfect for our small family wedding!
Godwick Hall was the most wonderful choice for our 30-person wedding! From the moment we stepped foot in the house on our first visit, to the day itself, Debbie-Lee, James and the rest of the Godwick team were on hand to explain what was possible, help us realise our ideas, and support us in every way imaginable.
We loved everything about our wedding – from waking up surrounded by our closest family and friends to a dip in the pool at the end of the evening! The drawing room was a wonderful, intimate setting for our vows, and James and Debbie-Lee helped our vision of an outdoor seated wedding breakfast come true. We would recommend Godwick to anyone hoping for a small, relaxed and joyous wedding day.

Couldn’t have hoped for more x
Finding the perfect location for your wedding is insanely difficult. Wedding are (and are increasingly) expensive and for mere mortals like us it was important to find the right price coupled with the right location/service. Virtually impossible, we discovered.
However. Having visited several places within approx 50 miles of where we live, we found a few barns / rustic-style venues and Godwick stood out as the best physically and by far the best for price and service.
You never know for sure, and it’s a nervy thing to jump into, but we couldn’t have been luckier – and we couldn’t be happier with what we got. The team at Godwick is attentive and helpful with everything. The recommended vendors are great, but they’re also happy for you to shop around. Their experience means they really can help with everything.
Fully recommend the accommodation along with the barn! We thought it would be nice to have a gathering of our top-tier guests the day before and the morning after, but it was so much more than that. The space is made for casual socialising. Everyone bonding and getting to know each other. Plenty of space and comfort for privacy. And naturally the rooms (varying by size of course) are all great, and the best ones are 5star luxury.
This is a 5star review, in case I don’t get the chance to make that clear! Couldn’t have asked for more.

We booked an Elopement Wedding package at this beautiful venue. House and gardens pretty much all to ourselves, and additionally we stayed in one of the Shepherds Huts for 2 nights. Cosy, comfy and warm in December.
It was just we two for the wedding but were supported by a wonderful team of staff who clearly love their roles and made us feel genuinely special.
At the forefront of the team was Debbie Lee, and we cannot praise her highly enough.
From the start she was personable, friendly, professional and a gentle guiding hand from start to finish. Always available and first class communications by email, phone or text.
Simply put, she is a kind, caring, lovely person, and we were in safe hands. In addition, she was one of our witnesses.
If you wish to have a perfect, trouble-free wedding in beautiful rural Norfolk, then what are you waiting for?
Highly, highly recommended.

We usually have a better idea of the weather a few days before your wedding and can plan accordingly. If necessary, we would have a Plan B ceremony inside the Barn, and if the weather turns, we would move inside for the comfort of everyone.
For an outside ceremony, we provide up to 120 folding chairs for seating; these are included in the venue hire charge if you require them.
We have contacts with many local suppliers providing various services - catering, wedding cakes, flowers, photography, hair, make-up, taxis, marquee hire, bell tents for camping, additional lighting, decor, bands and other entertainment.
Of course, you can choose your own suppliers; all we ask is that they can provide public liability insurance, risk assessments for any equipment and activities and, in the case of caterers, evidence of a current 5-star food hygiene rating.
If you choose to use a caterer not on our supplier list, a £350 kitchen charge will be payable.
The Barn is a very old 16th-century building, but we have done our very best to heat it so you are comfortable. We have underfloor heating, along with external heaters to pump warm air inside. We also have fans in the rafters to push warm air back down to the guest level.
Over the winter of 2019/2020, the magnificent roof was replaced, which has made a vast difference in keeping the building warm.
We have a choice. Either round tables (these do require table linen), which are 6ft across and ideally seat ten guests, or we have oblong rustic trestle tables, which look great without linen and are very in keeping with the rustic feel of the barn. Each rustic table is 8ft long by 3ft wide and seats four guests on each side. They can be placed in long rows for a less formal-style reception.
We allow music and alcohol to be served until 12.30am on a Saturday wedding, with all guests left by 1am; for midweek weddings, music and alcohol are permitted until 11.30am, with all guests left by midnight.
We have a PA system that can be used for background music and speeches inside and outside, together with a wireless microphone. We do not have a sound limiter at the Barn but monitor sound levels with a handheld device.
Candles create a beautiful ambience in the Barn, and we permit them provided they are in a container tall enough to shield the naked flame. You may have non-drip tapered candles on tables. No real candles are allowed on the stairs, but we have some remote-controlled LED lights and jars if you wish to use them.
Confetti must be biodegradable (e.g. dried rose petals) so that it disperses quickly and easily. It can only be thrown outside the Barn. Please remember we have weddings every weekend and also during the week and we want the lawn looking its best for every couple. Please advise your guests to refrain from bringing paper confetti, as we may have to charge for additional clean-up costs.
We have competitively priced drinks, including lager, bottled beers, and a good selection of spirits, wine, and soft drinks. All glassware and bar staff are provided, and the bar is open from after your ceremony throughout the evening. We require a minimum spend of £500 on the bar, and most events reach this without difficulty. We can take cash and card payments.
