Cornwell Manor is set on an expansive 2000-acre estate in the rural Cotswold countryside, gracefully bridging Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. The estate includes formal gardens with lush topiary walks, famed by the film The Holiday, alongside a grand fountain, Italianate reflecting pool, croquet lawn, and a terrace overlooking lakes and woodlands. Beyond, the grounds extend to include a walled garden near the ballroom, a spacious outdoor swimming pool within its own walled garden, as well as productive kitchen gardens and orchards.
Most ceremonies take place in the gardens, typically by the fountain, with the house as a dramatic backdrop. An open-sided structure is suggested in case of rain. Alternatively, ceremonies can be held in the walled garden with a stretch tent or in the ballroom, which accommodates up to 100 seated guests (chairs not included). A charming on-site church, located less than 100 metres from the manor, seats up to 80 and may be used for weddings or blessings, following Church of England requirements.
Drinks receptions may be held on the terrace with views over the lakes, suitable for gatherings of up to 150 guests or for larger events, on the croquet lawn. Dining and dancing typically take place within a marquee, either set in a field overlooking the lakes or in the walled garden adjacent to the Ballroom.
Cornwell Manor has 12 bedrooms, hosting up to 24 guests, with 9 bathrooms shared among them. A three-night stay includes breakfast for all guests. Two additional properties on the estate can be rented separately, depending on availability. There are plenty of lovely local accommodation options in the vicinity, including self-catering cottages, pubs with rooms, and boutique hotels.
Cornwell Manor is proud to work with a select group of nine event catering suppliers and three separate cocktail bar suppliers. There is an in-house wine list for pre-order (on sale or return), which they ask you to use for your wedding day. Resident guests are provided with a full cooked and continental breakfast each morning of their stay, and a live-in chef is available for additional pre-arranged meals. Resident guests may bring their own food and drinks to the house for consumption in-house at no extra charge.
Sustainability initiatives are deeply woven into Cornwell Manor’s operation as part of a working farm prioritising re-wilding and biodiversity. Significant woodland planting projects have been established, covering over 50 hectares. “Beetle banks” enhance wildlife habitat, and three new wetland areas help improve water quality in the local river.
Cornwell Manor sits between Chipping Norton and Stow-on-the-Wold, with other notable spots like Kingham, Daylesford, and Churchill a short drive away. Blenheim Palace, with its gardens and public areas, is located 30 minutes from the manor. Additionally, Soho Farmhouse and Estelle Manor are 20 and 30 minutes away, respectively.
