Setting
Built in 1852, Carlowrie Castle has only ever been owned by two families: the Hutchisons, who designed and built the castle, and the Marshalls, whose son Andrew bought the property and extensively refurbished it, turning it into the unique property that it is today.
Carlowrie Castle retains a family atmosphere, and its excellent team is on hand to make your stay effortlessly enjoyable. The wedding team, operational team, and chefs are here to help with any question or request, and they pride themselves on their flexibility.
The stunning modern interior is complemented by Andrew’s private collection of urban art, which has 150 pieces and counting!
The castle is surrounded by woodlands and a perfectly manicured walled garden, giving a real feeling of seclusion and privacy in its 32-acre estate. Enjoy the exclusive use of the entire castle, and relax in your suite with all modern comforts (including Italian marble ensuite bathrooms, several with copper or nickel roll-top baths, walk-in drench showers, and views of the breathtaking grounds). The castle has a tennis court and complimentary bicycles for guest use, and the in-house bar is well-stocked.
Ceremony
Carlowrie Castle offers a range of options for your ceremony, including outside in the beautiful walled garden or the orangery. The team are experts in creating a unique ceremony that suits you.
Reception
The Carlowrie Castle orangery can accommodate up to 100 guests in a beautiful light space with views across the perfectly manicured lawn. For evening receptions, up to 150 guests can be accommodated in the castle’s ground-floor rooms.
Their hard-sided marquee, which boasts a marble-topped bar and crystal chandeliers, can accommodate up to 275 guests and up to 400 for an evening reception. You may consider an evening-only hire of the marquee for receptions following your meal.
Accommodation
Your booking includes the exclusive use of all nine castle bedrooms. All of them have luxury ensuite Italian marble bathrooms, several with copper or nickel roll-top baths, walk-in drench showers, and views of the breathtaking grounds.
For an additional cost, they offer further on-site accommodation options, including the recently refurbished stables block, which overlooks the manicured walled garden and includes six luxury ensuite rooms and one duplex. Less than 300m from the castle, they have a stunning five-bedroom, two-bathroom Gate House Lodge, fully equipped with all the comforts to make you feel at home.
Food & Drink
Carlowrie Castle has in-house catering. Your wedding menu begins with a private tasting at the castle, where their award-winning head chef, Richard Heller, transforms the finest ingredients into exquisite dishes expertly paired with quality wines.
Richard and his team will provide inspiring seasonal menu options to impress your guests. Their menus are flexible and can be adapted according to your taste.
All the produce used at Carlowrie Castle is sustainably and transparently sourced within Scotland; some are even grown in their own garden. They serve dry-aged grass-fed beef from quality Scottish farms that are hand-picked by local family butchers. Their game is from Scottish estates, and their fish is hand-selected daily by expert fishmongers from the best fishing ports across Scotland
Sustainability
Carlowrie Castle is proudly the only B Corp-certified castle in the world, an achievement that reflects their dedication to extremely high standards of environmentally and socially conscious practices. From supply chain and input materials to charitable giving and employee benefits, B Corp certification verifies that a business meets high social and environmental performance standards, transparency, and accountability. All B Corp businesses are manually assessed and audited every three years to ensure they maintain these high standards.
The castle is dedicated to sustainability and social well-being, evidenced by operating its own charity, which provides meals and support to people experiencing homelessness; installing electric vehicle charging points at the castle for guest and staff use; hosting free community events; and regenerating unused land through extensive tree planting.
