The Setting

Dating as far back as 1241, Birtsmorton Court is a Grade I listed family home and exclusive-use wedding venue. Nestled at the foot of the rolling Malvern Hills in the Worcestershire countryside and set in 350 acres of private land, Birtsmorton Court offers a slice of rural bliss.

The Court is still fully moated and boasts a unique architecture, as well as many picturesque areas within the gardens. This includes the Terrace, a veranda overlooking the moat, and the White Garden which is a secret spot surrounded by topiary and filled with white roses, foxgloves and wisteria. With the borders of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire all close by, Birtsmorton Court is within easy reach of several local, historical towns, including Ledbury, Malvern and Tewkesbury.

The Vibe

Birtsmorton Court is still a much-loved family home, and the options for your wedding day here are endless. Their award-winning Wedding Managers will work with you to plan the wedding of your dreams, from ceremony to evening party and everything in between. They endeavour to always say ‘yes’, to even the most unusual of requests!

The choices begin with the number of different areas in which you can say your vows. With the pretty parish church of St. Thomas of Canterbury with St. Peter & St. Paul, Birtsmorton set within the grounds; it’s the ideal place for a traditional church wedding.

If you’d prefer a civil ceremony, they’ve lots of suggestions for that too. The Great Hall, the oldest room in the Court dating back to the 15th Century, is steeped in history and elegance is one option. If you had something more contemporary in mind, the Garden Room, a barn style room, with wooden beams, exposed brick and a fairy lit canopy is the perfect choice for you. Alternatively, if you’ve always dreamed of saying your vows outside in the summer sun, surrounded by flowers with your friends and family watching on, the White Garden will be right up your street.

The choices for your day certainly don’t stop there. After your ceremony, a selection of drinks are served in the gardens of Birtsmorton Court. Enjoy the south-facing Terrace, overlooking the moat, watching the swans glide by perhaps, or take a walk to the kissing bridge for photos over the lake. In the cooler months, keep warm and cosy by the log fire in the Great Hall, while a string quartet plays on.

Next up, it’s your wedding breakfast. You can choose from two extremely talented catering partners to provide the food for your day, after a complementary tasting with them both. From the beginning of March to the end of October, a marquee is included for your wedding breakfast and is a light and airy space for your meal to take place in. Dressed in ivory drapes, with a Cotswold stone floor, the marquee is the perfect blank canvas for you to put your own stamp on the venue.

Afterwards, hit the dance floor, surrounded by chill-out furniture and lighting to match your colour scheme. There’s ample space for a DJ or band. Why not organise for a mobile catering van to serve something quirky for your evening food, too? A firework display can also be organised for you, with fireworks released over the moat’s waters.

Stay the night before your wedding in their Hideaway Cottage which sleeps 10! Enjoy an evening in the hot tub gazing up at the stars, then wake on your wedding morning and use the glamour room for those all-important bridal preparations.

At the end of the evening, you’ll also need somewhere to sleep! They have a maximum capacity to sleep 35 of your guests. Their Georgian Bridal Suite has a four-poster bed, separate dressing room and the most amazing views over the Malvern Hills, or spend your first night as newlyweds in the NEW Malvern Chase – a luxurious Shepherd’s Hut with private deck and hot tub plus breath-taking views. The Garden House is another one of their spacious cottages sleeping 14 guests, with two luxury en-suite bedrooms with modern facilities and contemporary décor.
