Southend Barns is an award-winning wedding venue based on a working farm in Chichester, West Sussex. The venue first opened in 2012 after the existing farm buildings were refurbished into three beautiful wedding barns including the 200-year-old Threshing Barn that is used for receptions, the fully licensed Dairy Barn and an on-site bridal suite.
The style of the barn is Scandi-contemporary without forgetting it’s rustic origins.
This summer, the team at Southend Barns have launched a beautiful new outdoor ceremony area known as The Secret Garden, allowing the popular venue to host outdoor wedding ceremonies for the first time. A hidden gem within the rest of the wedding barn venue, The Secret Garden features a stunning 50-foot aisle set amidst peaceful scenery.
Reflecting the romantic landscape of the South Coast, the licensed garden area is nestled between the field that is home to the resident alpacas and the flint walls of the existing Dairy Barn. Taking inspiration from the Dutch term gezellig, the garden is a celebration of togetherness, comfort and enjoyment – the perfect place to exchange vows amongst family and loved ones.
Designed to complement the existing wedding barns, the garden area includes a pagoda built in green oak with a slate roof and the venue’s signature rust-effect fences and log-pile walls. Lined with benches on slate paving, the area has been planted with a fabulous array of locally sourced plants including Delphiniums and Pleached Lime Trees to complete the enchanted garden theme.
