Setting
Islington Town Hall, on fashionable Upper Street, is home to the Register Office and their Ceremony Rooms. This impressive listed building, with its grand façade and sweeping marble staircase, provides an elegant setting for your wedding ceremony, not to mention an impressive backdrop for your photographs. With several unique ceremony rooms, couples are able to choose which one suits their own style best.
The Town Hall is near to Highbury & Islington and Angel tube stations, and is surrounded by picturesque backstreets and small parks, as well as a wide variety of stylish restaurants and bars.
Ceremony
Islington Town Hall offers couples a chic city venue and experienced and friendly registrars to conduct your ceremony.
The Council Chamber – 50 guests on weekdays, 85 guests on weekends
At the top of the Town Hall’s impressive marble staircase is the largest room available for ceremonies-the Council Chamber. This room features a vaulted ceiling and beautiful stained-glass windows, and despite its size and capacity, the seating layout retains intimacy. The horseshoe seating means none of your guests will be more than five rows from the happy couple. Thus, even much smaller parties do not feel overwhelmed during a ceremony.
The Richmond Suite – 60 guests
With a more traditional layout than the Council Chamber but with the same grandeur of the Town Hall’s 1920s design, the Richmond Suite’s original Art Deco features will provide a perfect setting for your special day. The room offers an excellent space for happy couples, featuring oak panelling, high, elaborate ceilings, and a beautifully ornate fireplace.
Room 99 – 20 guests
With a mid-century feel and tasteful simplicity in oak, grey, and white, this room features parquet floors and a beautiful oak mantelpiece with a circular mirror as a focal point. Large windows provide ample natural light, and with three Italian chandeliers and comfortable velvet chairs, Room 99 provides a popular and chic setting for your ceremony.
The Mayor’s Parlour – 4 guests
The Mayor’s Parlour is oak-panelled and luxuriously furnished in red leather. Over the years, many dignitaries have been received and entertained there. The room’s centrepiece is the built-in fireplace, in front of which couples can make their vows. For those seeking an intimate ceremony in a grand setting, there could be no better choice than the Mayor’s Parlour.
The Angel and Canonbury Suites – 2 guests
The newest ceremony rooms at Islington Town Hall provide an intimate, bijou setting for ‘cere-minis’. Choose the room you prefer for a perfect space for a city elopement, a relaxed affair before a larger celebration, or celebrating in elegant style with your very nearest and dearest. The rooms have been designed to reflect the heritage of the Town Hall but with a romantic modern twist. They feature wood-panelled walls, beautiful windows, velvet furniture, and curated décor in gold, teal, and powder pink.
All ceremony rooms have step-free access, and there are accessible bathrooms for you and your guests.
All their rooms are pet-friendly, except the Mayor’s Parlour.
You can check availability for all their rooms and book your date on their website.
