Egle & Jason’s Intimate London Town Hall + Quirky Zetter Townhouse Wedding

Egle & Jason (co-owner of The Kensington Photographer no less) tied the knot earlier this summer in a beautifully intimate wedding featuring tones of nude, light blush, peach and dashes of rich burgundy – including the guests who had a wedding-themed dress code to adhere to.

As much as I love a rustic barn wedding or a big country house bash there’s something so beautiful (and deeply special) about a small, chic city wedding and E+J’s wedding is all that, and so much more…

Egle says…

We both lived, met and spent most of our dates in Chelsea, thus Chelsea Old Town Hall was close to home and to heart. It is also one of the most beautiful town halls in London and is truly iconic for a chic city wedding. It was a no brainer!

Zetter Townhouse Clerkenwell was chosen due to it being so unique and quirky. I (Egle) researched many venues and as it was a small intimate wedding (28 guests), we both wanted something with a lot of character and soul and not be allocated a conference type room in a big venue which was mostly the case when we enquired with our shortlisted venues. Zetter Townhouse had the character and uniqueness perfect for our intimate wedding and they responded quickly and enthusiastically. Also the staff were extremely accommodating and a pleasure to work with during the planning and on the wedding day itself.

Originally, I was planning for a short wedding dress but unfortunately I didn’t find one that I loved and that would represent my style. As we were opting for a town hall and not a church ceremony, I wanted something elegant and classy, yet also venue appropriate and not overly fancy. In the end I chose Made With Love‘s River dress. It was elegant, timeless and had a little sex appeal! I loved the simple crepe fabric for the bottom part and embellished deep v-neck top. I added tulle gloves and simple cathedral length veil with a bouquet of nude roses. I absolutely adored Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s wedding look – she is the epitome of modern bridal elegance, and the beauty of simplicity. My tulle gloves were inspired by her, but I made the look my own by going for a slightly more glamorous look.

My shoes were Jimmy Choo’s Metz Sandals With Draping JC-Chain and Star Anklet. The only jewelry I wore were Mejuri 14k Essential Pearl Earrings – gifted my husband on our wedding morning. He had a ‘slight‘ hint of what I wanted, but he truly is the best present buyer! My second outfit (one just wasn’t enough!) was a silk top and trouser combo by Galvan London. I loved the quality of the fabric and the focus was on shape and silhouette. I wore it for the evening reception and for our first dance.

I got some feature robes for myself and my bridesmaids while we were getting ready – I wanted to include feathers because I think it is so old style glam! I wanted to create a boudoir vibe in keeping with Zetter Townhouse’s atmosphere. We got ready in The Apartment there which was absolutely beautiful and spacious enough to accommodate us all. We really had a blast!

Katie Daisy did my makeup and she truly is the best if you want to look like the most beautiful ‘blushing glowing bride’ version of yourself! My friend Sophie who is a hairdresser did mine and my bridesmaids’ hair. We all wanted elegant soft curls and bouncy locks – simple but stylish.

For the ‘theme’ of the wedding I started with a color scheme which I wanted to reference throughout the day – a beautiful blend of nude, light blush, peach and dashes of rich burgundy. Our guests had quite a strict dress code – black tie for men and burgundy/peach color scheme for women.

I did all of the table decor myself, with the help of my sister. Light blush menus were ordered from Etsy, so were the peach cloth napkins, silk ribbons and dried blooms to decorate them with. Wedding invites and table name cards were from Papier. Instead of name tags I did processed polaroid pictures of guests – instead of finding their names they had to find their face! Everyone loved the idea. Candles were from Trouva – some extra thick ones in burgundy and modern ribbed ones in neutral colors.

I did quite a lot of DIY and crafting for the wedding but I honestly enjoyed every part. We had a traditional Lithuanian mead drink as wedding favors for each guest which I presented in cotton bags with the wax stamp of love. And I even made my own confetti. Jason gets flowers delivered weekly for our home so I dried all the appropriate flowers until I had enough for our wedding and the packed them into individual packets I ordered from Etsy.

Our florist was House of Petula. I found her on Floom and when I looked at her Instagram I completely fell in love. I wanted flower-heavy, bold blooms with no foliage or greenery and Holly provided exactly that. Our table flowers included maroon peonies and peachy nude, coffee latte and blush roses. I wanted something unique and to my taste rather that what was trendy at the moment.

When it came to the food Zetter Townhouse did the catering – we had glass of champagne on arrival and for toasting the speeches. Following our delicious three course meal, tea, coffee & petits fours were served in the lounge with cake and cocktails when Hetty Loxton was singing. Our amazing wedding cake was ordered from Laura’s London and was a two tiered rose and lemon with Swiss meringue lemon buttercream, finished with Lemon Curd.

Jason (groom) is co-owner of The Kensington Photographer so naturally we had TKP photographers (Paul and Penny) and videographer (Alex) to document our day. They truly are the best and we could not be happier with the results.

Best part of the day

Just getting married and celebrating our love and commitment to one another. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxed day and so did our guests – it was so ‘us’ and we would not change a thing even if we could. I also love the fact Jason got teary at the altar and was trying his best not to burst into happy tears when he saw me.

Enjoy your day. Invite people you really want to see instead of those you feel you ‘have to’. Enjoy the planning process – this is such a fun and creative part! Also, invest in a good photographer and videographer – my husband convinced me to have videography, although I was against it and felt we really did not need it, but I am so glad we did! Looking back at everyone’s emotions, happy faces and the day itself was priceless. Our Instagram teaser video made me very emotional – I had no idea such moments were captured.
