Built in 1852, Carlowrie Castle has only ever been owned by two families: the Hutchisons, who designed and built the castle, and the Marshalls, whose son Andrew bought the property and extensively refurbished it, turning it into the unique property that it is today.
Carlowrie Castle retains a family atmosphere, and its excellent team is on hand to make your stay effortlessly enjoyable. The wedding team, operational team, and chefs are here to help with any question or request, and they pride themselves on their flexibility.
The stunning modern interior is complemented by Andrew’s private collection of urban art, which has 150 pieces and counting!
The castle is surrounded by woodlands and a perfectly manicured walled garden, giving a real feeling of seclusion and privacy in its 32-acre estate. Enjoy the exclusive use of the entire castle, and relax in your suite with all modern comforts (including Italian marble ensuite bathrooms, several with copper or nickel roll-top baths, walk-in drench showers, and views of the breathtaking grounds). The castle has a tennis court and complimentary bicycles for guest use, and the in-house bar is well-stocked.
Carlowrie Castle offers a range of options for your ceremony, including outside in the beautiful walled garden or the orangery. The team are experts in creating a unique ceremony that suits you.
The Carlowrie Castle orangery can accommodate up to 100 guests in a beautiful light space with views across the perfectly manicured lawn. For evening receptions, up to 150 guests can be accommodated in the castle’s ground-floor rooms.
Their hard-sided marquee, which boasts a marble-topped bar and crystal chandeliers, can accommodate up to 275 guests and up to 400 for an evening reception. You may consider an evening-only hire of the marquee for receptions following your meal.
Your booking includes the exclusive use of all nine castle bedrooms. All of them have luxury ensuite Italian marble bathrooms, several with copper or nickel roll-top baths, walk-in drench showers, and views of the breathtaking grounds.
For an additional cost, they offer further on-site accommodation options, including the recently refurbished stables block, which overlooks the manicured walled garden and includes six luxury ensuite rooms and one duplex. Less than 300m from the castle, they have a stunning five-bedroom, two-bathroom Gate House Lodge, fully equipped with all the comforts to make you feel at home.
Carlowrie Castle has in-house catering. Your wedding menu begins with a private tasting at the castle, where their award-winning head chef, Richard Heller, transforms the finest ingredients into exquisite dishes expertly paired with quality wines.
Richard and his team will provide inspiring seasonal menu options to impress your guests. Their menus are flexible and can be adapted according to your taste.
All the produce used at Carlowrie Castle is sustainably and transparently sourced within Scotland; some are even grown in their own garden. They serve dry-aged grass-fed beef from quality Scottish farms that are hand-picked by local family butchers. Their game is from Scottish estates, and their fish is hand-selected daily by expert fishmongers from the best fishing ports across Scotland

I got married at Carlowrie Castle and from my first viewing to the wedding itself everything was perfect. I can’t thank the staff enough for how they helped make our day perfect. We were lucky to get married outside in the beautiful grounds and moved over to the marquee in the evening to eat the amazing food and dance the night away. The team were truly incredible and so attentive. Thank you so much for everything

Words cannot describe how perfect our wedding day was at Carlowrie Castle. The beauty of the castle itself is indescribable – I was drawn to it over other castle venues as it is the perfect mix of a historical and magical exterior, with a modern and luxurious interior. Every room is perfectly styled, you are in a real life fairytale.
As incredible as the castle is itself, it’s the team at Carlowrie that really brings the magic to your big day – they go absolutely above and beyond and are genuinely wonderful people. They make you feel like the most beautiful bride and groom they’ve ever seen and that your wedding day is the only day that matters.
From my first enquiry (from abroad in Australia!) to virtual walkthroughs, menu tastings and my many calls and emails in between, the team were so helpful, attentive, flexible and friendly – nothing was too much trouble. The professionalism and seamlessness of the day itself far surpassed expectations meaning myself and my husband could just relax and have fun knowing the team had everything under control. Their experience in weddings and events is evident, and their service is world-class.
I could rave about this venue until the highland cows come home, but all this review really needs to say is thank you, Ailsa, Alisha and the team. I give 100/10 for our wedding day, experience and recommendation for Carlowrie. Get married here!

Where do I even begin? It is going to be hard, to sum up in words how perfect and amazing the Carlowrie team is. Jen, Ailsa, Ronin, you all are miracle workers! The best decision ever was picking Carlowrie to be the setting for our wedding day. My now husband and I came over from the US, and the moment we met Ronin at the venue, we knew we were in for an incredible experience. Planning a wedding felt daunting to start, especially out of the country, but I was completely at ease once I met the Carlowrie team. They make planning a wedding feel like a walk in the park! Their coordination, professionalism, promptness in all emails and calls, and wisdom of the wedding industry are impeccable. They are a well oiled machine, you can easily put your full trust in them to have your day go smoothly. Beyond all of that, they are amazing people; they felt like friends throughout this process, and it was lovely to have people you feel so comfortable around by your side all day. With all of my calls with Jen, I never wanted to get off because she was so sweet and endearing. I genuinely couldn’t praise all of them enough. Every single staff member on the day, too, was superb, friendly and talented! And I mean that backdrop, there is nothing more stunning! The grounds and building are kept beautifully! Our guests could not stop complimenting the entire day down to the smallest details! If I could do the planning and day all over again I would a million times over, especially if I get to eat the amazing food again (I think about it daily)! We cannot thank you all enough and can’t wait to come back to visit!

So sad our day is over, but we had THE most amazing wedding day at Carlowrie Castle!
After researching a few castle venues, I came across Carlowrie, and I knew it was the one! We loved how historic it was on the outside – like something from a fairy tale – but how modern and chic it was on the inside.
We cannot fault the team at Carlowrie, from the initial booking to email exchanges of wedding questions to arranging food tasting to the day itself – the team were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us! They were there whenever we needed anything and made sure our day ran so smoothly!
They really were exceptional and went above and beyond to provide the most perfect day for us and all of our guests!
Thank you so much to Jen, Alisha, Ailsa and everyone else on the team who made our dream day a reality – words will never be enough!
